Nose Re-Surgery

I had the nose implant removed after 7 years of stress

After I got a job when I was younger, I had one month before I was due to be assigned to my post, so I rushed into nose surgery. I just went to a famous plastic surgery clinic, had one consultation, heard them say they would make it pretty, and went into surgery without even having a proper pre-op consultation. After the splint came off, my nose didn’t match my face and felt uncomfortable... and in one side of my nose, cartilage was sticking out, making it hard to breathe. The side effects I thought would never happen to me became real, and I felt like I was going crazy A month later, I was supposed to start work soon, so I went back and asked for early removal, but the hospital just said it was because I hadn’t adjusted yet and that it would get better with time; they said they would only remove it if it was still uncomfortable after 6 months. I thought maybe it would get better, so I just endured day by day and ended up starting work. A year, two years... even after several years passed, my nose was still uncomfortable, and I lived every day under stress, never once forgetting my desire to have it removed. I cried a lot and caused a lot of trouble for my parents and family by saying I would quit the job I had worked so hard to get into I had worked hard to prepare for the interview for the job I wanted and barely got accepted, but once I actually wanted to quit because of my nose, it felt wasteful, and I felt trapped either way. I feel so sorry to myself for having lived with that stress.. Then this time I got the chance to take leave and finally had the nose removed. Finally removed after 7 years I had it done at one of the three hospitals mentioned in this community. I had wanted to remove it so badly, but once the removal surgery was scheduled, my mind felt all over the place. I had lived for 7 years with this changed appearance, and when I thought about going back to how I used to look, I suddenly got scared, but I found courage after reading posts from my family, people around me, and people in this community. I kept trembling on the operating table, was so nervous my blood pressure went up, but the nurses in the operating room were incredibly kind I composed myself again, then after sedation I slept and woke up and it was all done After it was over, it felt like nothing much, and I guess I had just been nervous for nothing. I consulted at many places, both revision-rhinoplasty clinics and removal clinics, but the director here listened to my story the best, took notes while I talked about the parts I wanted to improve, and I liked how he seemed to want to improve things together with me. He also encouraged me and told me it would be okay about the things I was worried about So I think that’s why I was able to trust him and decide on the surgery. On the day of surgery, the doctor consulted with me again before operating, and when I saw him looking over the paper where he had written down my previous consultation notes and confirming with me once more that he would proceed with surgery in that way today, I felt reassured and glad to trust him. I had previously used silicone, septal cartilage, and ear cartilage because I had a bulbous nose, but after surgery my nasal tip was pinched, the tip was crooked, and cartilage was sticking out inside one nostril, making it hard to breathe. The bridge also kept getting thinner and thinner, so I had pressure and headaches that made it hard to sleep. As soon as it was removed, I could breathe well again, and without the pressure my nose felt so free that I was happy. I’m still wearing the splint so I can’t really see the shape yet, but both my mom and I think it should be fine even after it comes off The doctor and nurses also said the pinched nose was improved well and the cartilage protruding inside the nose was removed properly. Ah! And they said the part where I had a deviated septum was also straightened toward the front~ For now, I’m so happy that the functional issues were improved I hope it heals well like this, nothing goes wrong, and time passes so I can finally forget about my nose. Because I had such a hard time, I leaned on many people who were struggling after nose surgery through this community, and I want to be a source of strength for others too. I saw so many posts saying revision surgery leads to yet another revision... and then another, and I was so scared. But I was also worried that if I didn’t remove it and instead did another revision because of my embarrassment right now, I’d end up living with silicone until I was old, so I removed everything, and I think I made the right choice!! At first I’ll probably feel a little embarrassed, but I think I and the people around me will quickly get used to this look too~~ time heals everything, after all I know better than anyone how upsetting and stressful it is for those of you who are considering removal. If you didn’t have trouble breathing from nasal blockage before surgery, but after surgery your nose is blocked and breathing feels uncomfortable, I think removal is the answer. I also heard a lot at revision clinics that I would need septum improvement or rhinitis surgery and things like that, but before my nose surgery I was breathing completely normally And after one failed nose surgery, I just couldn’t do any more Hearing the doctor say that removal alone would improve breathing, I’m glad I went ahead with removal surgery. For those like me whose cartilage protrudes inside the nose after surgery and whose function has been damaged, I think removal is better than revision Hang in there everyone, and I’ll post another update after the splint comes off.
