Before removal, my surgically altered nose had been done 4 years ago with hump osteotomy, 3 mm silicone, septal extension, and a straight-nose design, so my nose looked long and made my face look even longer. Because of the silicone, the nasal tip bent to the left, and when talking with people, I never looked straight ahead because I was worried they would only look at my nose.. The septal cartilage showing through at the nasal tip was also severe. For the removal, it was done through an open approach. The silicone was taken out, the septal cartilage at the nasal tip was removed, and the support strut remains. They said there was a possibility it could turn upward, so we decided to keep the support strut. I also told them that the shape was important to me. There was no splint, taping, or cotton packing, so it was really comfortable. They said my nose could look turned up, and maybe because the nasal bridge was swollen, my nostrils really were clearly visible from the front. But after about 4 days, it came down. I had my stitches removed today, and they said my nose may feel tight and pull forward from now on, and if it gets uncomfortable, I should come in for a scar-tissue injection, but I just want it to heal nicely,, I don’t trust my own choices and had the surgery trusting only the doctor, and I think I made the right choice. The doctor is really meticulous and kind!! For those hesitating over silicone removal! Hurry and take it out. It’s really comfortable. I think I’ll be able to talk with people face-to-face from now on! This was my review of a surgery I paid a large amount of my own money for.
