I had it done under local anesthesia..... It really hurt a lot. I cried when I got the anesthetic injections, and it kept hurting after that too. At the end, when they were stitching, the anesthesia had almost worn off, so it stung a lot.
There was something bulging a little below the glabella on the right nasal bridge, and as it went inward, my nasal bridge swelled up. I had a headache too, but after 3 days the swelling went down. I didn’t take antibiotics and instead drank elm root bark tea, which is said to be good for inflammation, applied propolis, and disinfected with saline. So I was secretly expecting there to be no inflammation and for everything to be clean.
It was L-shaped silicone + AlloDerm + ear cartilage, and the doctor said all of it was there... There were many pockets of pus and a lot of inflammation.. He asked if I had headaches. Honestly, after the surgery ended I was shaking and just in so much pain. Because it was AlloDerm, there was an extra charge. Scraping it out was also harder, he said... Looking at that long, high L-shaped silicone, I felt a bit disconnected thinking I had that inside my face..
I think it hurt more because there was so much to scrape out, but since it was local anesthesia, it was nice that I could talk with the doctor.
The nurses were all kind and took good care of me. I was in so much pain that I didn’t even want injections, so when I said I didn’t want them, they gave me an IV with fluids, antibiotics, and painkillers combined. Putting the needle in didn’t hurt as much as I expected.. haha The painkiller has kicked in so it hurts less now, but there is some bleeding.
I came alone, rested a bit, and am on my way home by subway. Wearing a hat and a mask covers my face a lot.
Finally, it’s really over now. I feel so relieved that the surgery is done.
The only advantage of local anesthesia is that you can know the surgical process. That’s the only one. It hurts like crazy, especially if there is a lot of inflammation..... There was a lot of inflammation in the left nasal bridge below the glabella, and scraping that out was really.....
