I thought I had had tip rhinoplasty with ear cartilage done here 10 years ago. I’d had no problems, but recently I started getting a rash-like breakout on my nose, plus a feeling of swelling inside the bridge of my nose and twitching spasms, so I called because I wondered why this was happening even though I have no implant.
When I called, it turned out my chart listed a different surgery from the one I thought I had had. The chart said rhinoplasty, and they said they must have used silicone for the bridge and ear cartilage for the tip. I was surprised and said I thought I had only had the tip done, not the bridge, and I was only given an irresponsible, vague answer that probably only ear cartilage had been used.
I was uneasy, so I left a message through mobile consultation about this situation, and again they said the bridge was silicone and the tip was ear cartilage. I was furious.
If silicone had been used, they should have told me before or after the consultation. If they now say there was silicone, then if I go to another hospital later and there is a problem, wouldn’t the way it gets handled be different? I argued that on the phone.
This time the doctor answered. They said it was 10 years ago so the chart was hard to find, and because it was written as rhinoplasty, they were just referring to the materials typically used. They also said the amount I paid back then was the combined price for the bridge and tip, and promised to find the chart again and call me tomorrow afternoon.
What makes me angry is that if I didn’t have the bridge done, then they charged me the combined bridge-and-tip price back then, and if silicone was used for the bridge, then they never said a single word about it before or after surgery. Is it just “do the surgery and take the money, and that’s it”? It feels irresponsible.
