My first double eyelid surgery was buried-suture method + epicanthoplasty under local anesthesia, and the second double eyelid surgery I had three years later was incision method under sedation.
Pros and cons of each
Pros of local anesthesia: During surgery, I could chat with the doctor, and they even played BTS songs so I wouldn’t feel nervous. During the surgery, when I opened my eyes, they checked how it looked from time to time, and according to the doctor, the shape and symmetry came out nicely. I actually felt that way too.
Cons of local anesthesia: First of all, the injection is….^^ so painful……. I’m really sensitive to pain, so I begged and begged them to please make it not hurt. The doctor didn’t inject it all at once, but divided the anesthetic injection into several times, but it still hurt so much, it just hurt.
Pros of sedation: You wake up from sleep and it’s over.
Cons of sedation: I don’t know if it’s just my imagination, but there’s a bit more asymmetry than when I had the buried-suture methodㅠㅠ
Honestly, I recommend getting sedation at a good clinic, but if you handle dental anesthetic shots well and the shape is your top priority, I recommend local anesthesia.
