Eye Surgery Considerations

Banobagi Review

I had my first nose surgery 15 years ago with Gore-Tex and ear cartilage. After about 10 years passed, the skin on my nose started to become thin, and the nasal tip looked round and protruding. A friend recommended this hospital, so I came here and had revision surgery. I thought it was a full surgery, but later found out they had only done the nasal tip. They shaved down the ear cartilage that looked like it might protrude, placed a thin layer of dermis over it, and the surgery was over.

The doctor told me I would never have to get nose surgery again for the rest of my life, but in the end, the same side effect appeared after just 3 years. So at a hospital in Suwon specializing in autologous dermis, I had all the implants completely removed and had revision surgery with autologous dermis, and now I’m living well without side effects.

The worst thing about this hospital was that they used some material called Medpor or something in my nasal tip without the patient’s permission. Later, when it was opened up for revision surgery, that material called Medpor or whatever was broken, and it was causing inflammation in my nose.

During the consultation or the post-surgery explanation, I was never told they had used something like this, so I was extremely shocked when I found out later. My nasal skin was thin, so even if they operated on the nasal tip again and covered it with a thin dermal layer, it was ultimately a nose that could not last a lifetime. The doctor who operated just to make it last a few years was really not good either.

Later, when I went back because I had side effects, the doctor who had operated on me had left the clinic, and another female doctor said my nose wasn’t bad and only prescribed 30 days’ worth of expensive antibiotics. The medication alone cost over 100,000 won. This wasn’t something that could be fixed by taking medicine; it was a situation where everything needed to be removed entirely. I felt that this was not a hospital that sincerely thinks about patients.
