Tomorrow will mark one month since I had everything removed. After surgery, I took photos every day and compared them, but after 2 weeks, my own interest in the surgery started to fade, so I took photos on and off. And now today, it’s already been almost a month.
I had my first surgery 10 years ago (silicone, nasal tip tying, ear cartilage support graft, and ear cartilage placed in the nasal tip), and 7 years ago, I went in for complete removal but only had the silicone lowered (open approach), and last month, I had complete removal through a closed approach. As time went on, the implant became more visible and my nose looked pinched, so I decided to have it removed.
Also, is the contraction phase when you feel tightness and pain? I haven’t had those symptoms yet, maybe because it was a closed approach. I don’t feel any pulling in the philtrum, and I can freely do the “eum-pa eum-pa” mouth movement too.
After the removal surgery, once the major swelling went down, I stopped paying attention to my nose, but looking at it now, I guess the subtle swelling has been going down day by day. Compared with right after removal, the puffy swelling feels a bit slimmer now.
The good things after removal are comfort and the shape of my nose. Honestly, I didn’t have any expectations for the shape after removal. The hospital where I had my first surgery had told me they didn’t know what the shape would become if I removed it, and that I should just leave it as is. I looked at old photos, at least the ones that came out well, and hoped it would go back to about that level when I had it removed. Even though the nasal tip that had been tied for 10 years was released, I don’t think it has gone completely back to my old nose. Mentally, I feel comfortable and happy because there’s no implant, and my family also says it looks much better now and tells me never to get nose surgery again.
It was a long way around, but still, I like the shape of my nose after removal more than my original natural nose. haha ha I’m satisfied now, but I’m also curious how the shape of my nose will change going forward.
