I went for a consultation about removing autologous costal cartilage spreader grafts, an autologous costal cartilage columellar strut, diced costal cartilage on the nasal bridge, and a nasal tip built up with layered diced costal cartilage. The director was kind and gave me a careful consultation over a long time. Because of nasal function, the spreader grafts would be left in place and everything else removed. He said diced costal cartilage is difficult to remove cleanly, and even if removed, it can be uneven, so if my skin is thin and it seems likely to show through, he suggested using autologous dermis. I am hesitant because I do not want to add anything else. There is the condition of “if,” but I am already worried about leaving the spreader grafts in, and I am also worried about whether I might need dermis. I went to consultations at several places, and no one had mentioned the possibility of putting something back on the nasal bridge, so … I was satisfied with the consultation, so I think I need to think a bit more before deciding.
