I wanted to get three facial contouring procedures, so I made a consultation reservation, and they took 20,000 won as a consultation fee/pre-reservation deposit. Anyway, I had already been to one other hospital, and this was my second consultation, but I was surprised because the consultation content was so different from what I had expected.
First of all, when viewed from the front, I have a lot of empty space on the sides of my face, so I’ve always covered it with my hair. I didn’t want to keep being stressed by it, so my first priorities were zygoma reduction and temple reduction. Next was square jaw reduction. But as soon as Director BNH saw my face and photos, he said, “Where are your cheekbones?” and that it wouldn’t be effective, without even trying to listen to my opinion, and he scolded me in a lecturing way... He showed me photos of other people, saying people like this are the ones who get cheekbone surgery, but he only showed faces that obviously had no facial fat or whose cheekbones looked extremely, extremely prominent... But people considering facial contouring surgery would know this: even if the cheekbones are not extremely severe, there are many people who want to smooth out the facial line because it looks uneven, and want the face width to look smaller, right? He said my face isn’t wide at all. Of course, depending on the person, it may or may not be considered wide, but plastic surgery is ultimately for cosmetic purposes and self-satisfaction. In my eyes it looks wide, and I’m stressed because of that, so I decided to get surgery. But he pushed his own opinion so strongly that I didn’t want to talk anymore. When he asked if I had any more questions, I said no and just wanted to finish quickly and leave.
Compared with other hospitals (when comparing the surgical methods they explained and before-and-after photos), my face is definitely not a face that would get no effect from zygoma reduction?? When I saw photos of people with face shapes similar to mine, there was a lot of the before-and-after difference I wanted, and even at this hospital they told me that because my features are distinct, if only the empty space is reduced, my eyes would look much bigger and I would look prettier...?
For Director BNH here and other directors with similar surgical styles, people like me whose cheekbones don’t protrude dramatically but who have wide side facial space and temples probably won’t be able to see any effect at all!!
Saying flat-out that my face won’t see results, well, since each doctor has different standards for pursuing naturalness, I can understand they might judge it that way. But because the tone felt so dismissive and lecturing, I felt really bad. In my view, the people who should have surgery here are only those whose face has very little fat so the cheekbones look very prominent, those who want a natural change, and those who are very worried about safety.
Still, the consultant was kind.
