Day 1 Rhinoplasty Review (hump nose, nasal bridge osteotomy, ear cartilage tying, thread…

After changing clothes, consultation with the director before surgery

Wow, in my life, this is the first director I’ve met who speaks in such a kind and gentle way..... It was surprising, and he explained everything so clearly and easy to understand. When I told him the nose shape I was considering, he accommodated everything. For reference, I’m someone who has had procedures and plastic surgery several times.. His way of speaking was kind of like my boyfriend’s, so it felt interesting...

Oh right, since I live out of town, I had sent my photos before the consultation, and he told me that my nasal bridge looked wide and spread out, so I might need a nasal bridge osteotomy. (At the time, I didn’t know what a nasal bridge osteotomy was, so I immediately started searching YouTube.) Once I found out what kind of surgery it was, I thought I really needed it, and during the consultation with the director, I said, “I want to do it!” and the director also said it would look better if I did. But he said that because my nose is very low and the bone is thin, the effect wouldn’t be dramatic. Still, since I wanted it, he said he would match it as much as possible!! (I was touched by this part.) But he said that if I had a nasal osteotomy, swelling, bruising, and conjunctival edema? would be a bit worse. Well.. can’t be helped.

From here on, these are notes I wrote right after surgery, so the typing is a bit weird.

I think the surgery started at about 12-ish, roughly When the surgery ended, it was exactly 3 o’clock As soon as I woke up from anesthesia lol I could immediately sense it, the cotton was blocking my nose so I couldn’t breathe through my nose...ㅠㅠㅠ

From then on, I breathed with passion Thank you and thank you to the kind nurse Kang I said I needed the bathroomㅠ and she waited outside for me. I tried facial recognition on my phone and it wouldn’t recognize me hahaha

3:27 My mouth keeps getting dry, so I’m holding about 1/3 sip of water in my mouth and breathing. Wow, there was such a good method?? lol

Really, as if it were a lie, nothing hurts at all... As expected, I don’t wake up well from sleep anesthesia. I’m still half-asleep. I’m going to fully wake up here before leaving.

The surgery really... was over when I woke up from sleeping..ㅇㅅㅇ I was shaking incredibly, incredibly, incredibly hard on the operating table, the most in my life... hmm The nurses were so kind, so I liked it. As an aside, at first, I don’t know why I said this to the nurse, but I asked, “I’m not going to die during nose surgery, right..? I won’t fail to wake up from sleep anesthesia, right..?” and the nurse smiled and said I wouldn’t be deeply asleep, so it was okay. (Maybe I got too nervous after searching rhinoplasty reviews and seeing the case about a 26-year-old man who died during nose surgery ㅠㅠ)

I don’t want swelling, so I’m doing intense cold compresses. I need the bathroom and my mouth is dry, so I keep going back and forth to the bathroom lol The machine that trims nose hairs in the operating room hurts so muchㅠㅠ (Ah, this seriously hurt so much. Why do they do it before anesthesia ㅠㅠ This was the most painful part of nose surgery. They were digging around in my delicate nose ㅠㅠ

On the bus ride home (I live out of town, so it’s an 8-hour round trip by bus), I thought I wouldn’t swell because I did cold compresses super well, but what do you know, after getting off at the terminal and riding in the car, I sneezed like crazy, bled again, and most of all, I swelled up a lot ㅠㅠㅠ

Sleeping on the first night is insanely uncomfortable. I knew from watching lots of YouTube reviews, but experiencing it myself tastes like hell... On Saturday, day 2 (tomorrow), they told me to have the cotton removed at a nearby ENT clinic, but if I’m not bleeding, I think I’ll remove it later this afternoon...

The swelling from the lateral canthoplasty and lower canthoplasty was less than I expected except for conjunctival edema, but because of my nose, my eyes started swelling again too~ lol (For reference, on 8/5, 4 days ago, I had lateral and lower canthoplasty at another hospital!) Still, I think the sides of my nose are the most swollen. I really wish the sneezing would stop ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

That’s it for my day 1 rhinoplasty review! If I have time, I’ll bring the next review too.
