Before this surgery, over 2 or 3 years, I went to consultations at about 7 or 8 clinics. I think I mainly went to clinics that are often mentioned for revision surgery. (Yuwonil, Yejin, Sehyun, Midream, Seo Sangwoo, Global, Kwon Jangdeok, etc.)
I thought of this as my last surgery, and I wasn’t hoping for a dramatically pretty nose. I only wanted it to look natural and have no side effects.
At many other places, they suggested using various other materials. Since my nose itself is small and my skin is thin, and it had been operated on many times, I think they felt I needed a firm material to support it. (Almost every clinic said they would use mesh or donated dermis.)
I chose the clinic because an acquaintance had surgery there and it turned out naturally well, so I went there. Both the director and the consultant said it would be difficult to correct it to be perfectly 100% symmetrical, but they could make my sharp, upturned, unstable-looking nose look stable and natural. They suggested simply improving the current shortcomings, so I decided to go with them.
I excluded every clinic that said they would use mesh, donated cartilage, donated dermis, autologous dermis, or costal cartilage, because I was worried about possible side effects and afraid I might have to open up my nose again later. And rather than a dramatic nose with a high nasal tip, I wanted a safe nose that suited my face. If the nasal tip is raised too much, it may look pretty, but if the support is weak, it shifts to one side and becomes crooked. That happened to me. So for this surgery, I actually lowered the nasal tip. Other clinics said they would do the opposite: lower the nasal bridge and raise the nasal tip more.
My previous rhinoplasty was also done by the director of a large hospital famous for rhinoplasty (it was hard even to see his face).
Now my nasal tip has come down a lot and it looks natural, so I’m happy with it.
