In 2021, I got some kind of LASEK that was supposed to heal quickly. Was it Smile LASEK? (Not LASIK.) I added every option they had because I was scared.. haha
The pain was not smiley at all.. It hurt like crazy.
From the day of surgery to day 1, no exaggeration, it felt like my eyes were getting paper cuts every 3 seconds, and every time that happened, tears would automatically pour out. On day 2, the interval increased to about 10 minutes. From day 3, maybe it hurt once an hour?? The intensity of the pain also went down, so it was bearable. (I couldn't look at my phone, so I played with my dog.)
Anyway, after a few years, the remaining side effects? aftereffects? are as people commonly know, dry eye syndrome and glare/halos in dark places, about that much!
I'll write in more detail! 1. Dry eye syndrome I already had dry eyes, but it got a bit worse ㅠ Even if I use artificial tears, it quickly goes back to about the same, so when my eyes feel dry, I just consciously blink often!
2. Sometimes I can't see well And I don't know if this is a side effect or what, but when I'm tired, I can't see well. It's not that my eyes won't focus, but it looks kind of blurry, like when a contact lens shifts(?).. hahaha If I sleep well and wake up, I can see perfectly clearly again, so I don't know why this happens...
3. Glare/halos in dark places This is a symptom I didn't have at all before, but when I look at lights in dark places, they spread out, so I think it would be uncomfortable to drive at night! I haven't tried, so I don't know exactly, but I don't think it's to the point that I couldn't do it; it just seems like it would be uncomfortable. And it's uncomfortable when watching movies at the theater ㅜ The subtitles look blurred, so having to read them quickly is inconvenient, and after LASEK I hardly go to the theater..
4. Sometimes I have pain in my eyeballs I don't know if this is a side effect, but sometimes my eyeball has a slight throb..! almost~ It feels like it might hurt but not quite..? It's such a mild sensation that it's embarrassing to even call it pain hahaha It doesn't bother me.. I'm writing it just in case!
If you ask whether I'd get it again, absolutely not. But if you ask whether I regret getting it, I absolutely don't regret it.. hahaha It's convenient!!! It's a little disappointing that I can't wear cosmetic contact lenses though..
