It’s now almost 3 months after removal. As expected, waiting was not the answer. After removal, my nose looked even “more” pinched, and at the 1-month follow-up I asked a few questions because I had doubts and felt anxious, and I’m the patient who ended up being treated terribly. I really decided on removal with the mindset that I would let go of expectations about nasal tip height and appearance, and just improve the parts I wanted improved. I firmly believed the clinic when they said it would of course be better than now, and had the removal done. Of course, I knew it wouldn’t improve as much as surgery and that I couldn’t get a pretty shape. I didn’t care about things like the side profile becoming slightly shorter or nasal tip height, and I pointed out only the parts I wanted improved, asking repeatedly several times, “Compared to now! Compared to now!! Can this part be improved?” Not things like height or whatever. They said of course it could. I resent myself for not recording that.
Oh, and originally I went to that hospital to look into revision surgery. They said that to lower the nostrils and so on, I would need a butterfly graft(?) or something. But when I looked at photos on that site, it seemed like quite a lot of cartilage was used, it had to be open surgery, and I was anxious thinking, what if it fails again... During that anxiety, I read reviews from people who had removal, and more people than I expected were satisfied with the results. It can’t become perfect, but some aspects improve even a little. In my case too, I only had cartilage in the nasal tip, so it wasn’t much different from my original nose, and I just disliked having something hard in there. It felt like only the nasal tip didn’t move when I smiled, and I just didn’t like it. So I looked into removal, and although of course it wouldn’t be like surgery, they said it would improve compared to now, and that would have been enough for me.
But it became more pinched and there are so many other problems, but among them the pinching bothers me the most. Because it shows externally.
The ceiling inside my nose came down and there’s scarring, and that’s so upsetting too, but still, that’s inside for now...
But now they’re talking as if, when I went there for removal, they had recommended that this kind of nose needed a butterfly graft, and I was the one who insisted on removal..... I regret looking into revision surgery first for no reason...
This explanation is so long that it’s hard to understand, right? To put it again, I first went for a revision surgery consultation, so I wasn’t even thinking about removal at all. But in the chart, there’s a record saying something about butterfly graft... They’re using that as if they had recommended it first. The order got switched. I went for revision surgery first, then looked into removal. Anyway, right up until immediately before surgery, I believed that one statement that it would improve compared to now.
I endured the fear and did it under local anesthesia. They just sighed and coughed. Do you know how scary it is to lie on the operating table before anesthesia? ㅜ And the nurses were so rude ㅋㅋㅋ There was no comfort, they just said one thing: “Lie down.” And when the anesthesia hurt so much that I said “Ah, ah,” the doctor said, “But I’m injecting it so it doesn’t hurt?” ㅋㅋㅋ And even when I went for follow-up, they said countless things that made me furious.
Anyway, if I listed everything that happened there, I think it would take about ten more pages.
I’m uploading photos. First photo, among the four: first one is my original nose, the rest are right before removal.
Right before removal, I only had ear cartilage inserted in the nasal tip, and the nostrils weren’t lowered together, so it had this bent feeling?? That’s why I wanted it removed, but there weren’t lines. And on the left side, even before removal, a line had formed after surgery, so I thought that would improve, but far from improving it, they added another lump on one side.
The second photo is now. The circled area is where a line appeared on the right side, right above the nasal tip. Even from far away, it looks like that. When I take it up close, it actually doesn’t show. In real life it’s darker. And the nose in the uncircled photo has the left and right reversed. So the left side is the same direction as the circled area. It may be a bit confusing, but anyway, a line formed like that, and the inside of my nose is beyond words.
Some people may think, it’s not like my nose collapsed, so why am I overreacting like that. But I paid several million won just to remove one simple piece of ear cartilage, and because my own nose is my comparison point, I’m this angry. And honestly, at around three months, I could complain and wait. But the way that hospital behaved is what made me like this now. Especially when the director came out, told me to leave while talking, then went in and slammed the door so hard it could have broken; I still suffer nightmares from that. It was so, so shocking, and if this is a lie, may I be struck by lightning and die. I quit my job now and live each unhappy day looking in the mirror. I had it removed because I never wanted foreign material or cartilage put in again, but now that it turned out like this, I feel hopeless.
