My natural nose was short and low, but I had absolutely no intention of having surgery. When I was 20, I went with my mom to get my eyes done and ended up getting my nose done too. I’m grateful that I had no problems for 15 years, but recently every morning my nose felt like its shape was lifting up a bit, and it would suddenly hurt too, so while looking into clinics, I searched by hand in a community and, after a consultation at one place where closed removal was possible without a splint, I went straight through with the surgery. Some other places said capsule removal was mandatory, so after asking by phone, I passed on them. My surgery was at 1 yesterday. When I arrived and had the consultation, I showed them photos of my natural nose (not during the first consultation), and they said it was very shortㅠ The doctor said they would make an incision in the right nostril, and if it didn’t come out well, they might have to incise both nostrils. I was worried about the widened nasal bridge after removal and a blunt, spread-out nasal tip like my original nose, and they told me the bridge would be about 1 mm higher than a natural nose and that the nasal tip also wouldn’t spread as much as my natural nose. The surgery started around 1:30, and I opened my eyes in the operating room a little after 3, then had a consultation with the doctor. They showed me photos, and the silicone I had thought for 15 years was L-shaped was actually a straight 3 mm silicone implant. They also showed me my cartilage and the capsule at the tip (the slightly thickened part around the nasal dorsum). (During the first consultation, the consultant said that after removing the silicone, the end part of the capsule after silicone removal would flap loosely, so part of it would be removed.) After removing the silicone, in the intraoperative photo the middle of the nasal bridge looked sunken, and the doctor said it wasn’t a bone problem but a difference caused by the capsule sinking after silicone removal, and that they split the capsule to compensate for it. Before and after the surgery, they let me ask every question I had, and told me to call or email if I had any inquiries. Before surgery, they asked if I had any questions, so I just said please take good care of me, and they said they would do their best. After surgery, they told me it went well, so I felt relieved. I removed the bandage under my nose right after leaving the hospital and getting in the car, and there was no runny discharge or bloody fluid, and no nasal congestion either.
I received 5 days’ worth of medication, and right now because of the swelling between my eyebrows, the glabella is out of this world, but I’m so happy.
Oh, right after surgery, the doctor touched my nose and said I can now make a pig nose, and touched it lightly. I’m so happy to have a soft nose. Honestly, my family all said I looked fine and asked why I was being like that, that it was all in my headㅠㅠ But it’s pain only the person involved knows. Every day I dreamed that the silicone suddenly slipped out and I bled, or that my nose got crushed in some random wayㅠㅠ Now I’m free. I’m not saying removal is always the answer no matter what, but if there is even a small problem, I hope you look into removal quickly and that everyone can feel at ease!!
