<Can you see the cartilage show-through?> Please advise whether complete removal would be better, or whether I should just trim the cartilage area
Timing: Around August 2024 Purpose of surgery: Improvement of asymmetry and crooked nose Surgical material: Autologous rib cartilage Surgical area: Osteotomy of the nasal bridge, raising the bridge height with autologous rib cartilage, and raising the nasal tip
I’m now approaching 6 months post-op, and as you can see in the photo, the cartilage show-through at the nasal tip has gotten severe.. In real life, when I touch it, it sticks out, so it’s stressful to the point that it really bothers me
When it first started showing a little, I thought it might be a waste because I even got a scar under my chest from harvesting my own rib cartilage, and I had gotten used to having a high nose, so I considered just trimming the part that shows through
But they say that even with autologous rib cartilage, it can show through after 10 years later, and mine is already showing; they also say autologous rib cartilage can be absorbed after a few years and create irregularities, and it can also warp, so I’m leaning toward removal
Above all, because my nose is hard, it bothers me so much, and maybe because I’m careful when sleeping or because the skin has thinned, I feel a pulling sensation
Since this will be the second time opening it up, I want to be careful Please advise whether complete removal would be better, or whether trimming would be better..!!
And additional questions:
1. If I remove the autologous rib cartilage from the nasal bridge, will my original nasal bridge bone be pressed down and become even lower? Will it not recover?
2. If I remove everything and want to match the nasal tip height, can cartilage tying and alar reduction alone achieve that? I want my nose to be soft! So that there’s no problem even if it bumps lightly..!
