Before <before surgery>Before <before surgery>Before <before surgery>Before <before surgery>After <after surgery>After <after surgery>After <after surgery>After <after surgery>Next week will mark 10 months since my surgery. I had two-jaw surgery and genioplasty together, without orthodontic correction. The reasons I decided on surgery were concerns about slight mouth protrusion, a long face, a square jaw, and a blunt-looking chin. I was told the maxilla was moved backward 5.8 mm / the mandible 9.1 mm, and that my facial length decreased by 7-8 mm after surgery.
Even though two-jaw surgery is a major operation, as time has passed, I’m now living while forgetting that fact. That’s how much the swelling has gone down, and all sensation has returned too! Even up to 6-7 months, I still had a bit of residual swelling, so my cheeks felt round, but now that feeling is gone.
The surgical effect is natural. Unless I specifically say it, people don’t seem to think I had two-jaw surgery. And I feel like my facial proportions are now balanced, so I’m satisfied with that too. When I was looking into it before surgery, I saw cases where the jaw was set back excessively and the person ended up with a collapsed-looking mouth, or where the proportions of the midface and jaw actually looked better before surgery. I was worried, wondering what I’d do if that happened to me too, but thankfully I’m satisfied.
I was also worried about sagging skin, but for now, I don’t have any. Maybe because I already don’t have much fat on my face and my skin itself is firm and taut, I don’t have any at all. I did develop a very slight double chin, but compared with before surgery, when I had no fat under my chin at all, it’s only a slight amount, so it’s not enough to bother me.
Anyway, this is my current situation. I also searched for a ton of reviews before surgery, so I hope my post can be of at least a little help! I’ll keep watching how things go, and if I get the chance, I’ll write another review!
I hope everyone researches thoroughly, and since you go through so much to have surgery, I hope you all get good results~
