It’s been a while since I came in here haha. Before removal, I came in every day, sighing and worrying so much that I read and reread every post in the nose implant removal category.. Everyone who ends up reading this is probably like that too, right..? haha
I know that feeling so well, so I wanted to help, and I’ll leave even a short post!!
I had removal after about one month! I had used septal cartilage for the support, nasal tip, and 2 mm silicone. My changed face just didn’t feel like me. I did it to become prettier, but instead my face looked strange.. After taking it out and looking at photos from then, the nose was pretty lolololol haha. Still, I would have taken it out anyway. Once you start being bothered by it once or twice, it’s not just one or two days of stressㅠㅠ Anyway, the reason I decided on removal was mostly cosmetic? I guess? Function-wise, if anything, breathing was more blocked than with my original nose and it was very uncomfortable? I think a lot of it was psychological.
It’s been about 5 months since removal now~ Honestly, from the moment I had the splint on, I cried tears of joy haha. It felt like something had come back, and even right after surgery it felt more comfortable than my post-surgery nose. I took the splint off a week later, and honestly the shape was not prettier than my original nose. Even so, I was so happy because I was freed from the stress of nose surgery. The shape wasn’t extremely weird, but because of the swelling, the bridge felt like a soft, round cloud ladder? something like that? lolololololol
I think I started paying less attention to my nose from when I still had the splint on. So even after taking it off, I just applied the ointment well, and after the splint came off I didn’t specially take care or anything like that. I just lived as if it were my original nose. Around week 3, I think it had returned to more than 95% similar to my original nose, and compared with now there was still a tiny bit of swelling haha. Now maybe 98%? Since I did have surgery, I can’t say 100%.. But just from how it feels, I feel like it has returned, and I don’t pay any attention to it at all haha.
A lot of time has passed, so I’m writing only the good parts lololol, but it really was good. Still, I don’t remember well, but I think I had small worries here and there. Whenever I had a little pain once in a while, I wondered, what is this, is something wrong? When I first took the splint off, I was very slightly nervous thinking, ah, it must be swelling, and it was swelling. But after surgery, if it hurts a little and there is swelling for about a month, in a way that’s natural, right? lolololololol. I think it was because when I was looking into removal, I saw so many worrying posts haha.
After my first surgery, I swelled so much the next day that I couldn’t even open my eyes, but with removal, I didn’t swell at all even the next day lololololol. Once the silicone and the nasal tip work were removed, it was so comfortable that even wearing the splint wasn’t uncomfortable. Even if I bumped it lightly, I didn’t care lololololol. I even touched it a lot. When I first took the splint off, it was really floppy and soft, but gradually it becomes not hard, but firm!
After a month, I really didn’t pay any attention to my nose at all, just like before nose surgery! Contracture? Upturning? None at all!! haha The doctor also reassured me that such cases do exist, but they are very rare, and in my case, since it was my first surgery, it was even less likely! I thought I might take a medicine called Rizaben because I’d seen it in this community, but there was no prescription for that kind of medicine at all. It was just the initial antibiotics and ophthalmic ointment!
Now at month 5, compared with my original nose, which was soft, it is firm. (Honestly, even if it were hard, after removal I don’t pay any attention to my nose at all and there’s no foreign body sensation, so I don’t think I’d care.) Compared with months 2, 3, and 4, it is becoming softer and less firm! Still, I comfortably try whether I can make a pig nose (not yet possible, doesn’t bother me at all), comfortably fiddle with it, tap it, pick my nose lololololol
As for the shape, I just don’t pay attention to my nose, so I don’t know whether it has changed in detail or not. I just felt that after one month, from around two months onward, it had completely returned haha. If there has been any change, I guess tiny swelling in the nose may have gone down.
I meant to write only a short progress update, but I remembered how reassuring it was to see any detailed positive review, so I just rambled on lololol haha. I really want to tell you not to worry!
You probably won’t see this, but doctor who did my removal, thank you so much!!!ㅠㅠㅠ
For reference, at the hospital where I had the original surgery, it would take too long to explain everything, but when I first went saying I wanted it removed, they said it could be removed anytime. But then they said something about better treatment or whatever, that this face looked better, to wait and see, and then they made me write a consent form, so I suddenly got scared and said I’d think about it and contact them right away the next day. After the weekend, when I went to the hospital, they basically treated me like I was mentally ill, saying even people with facial burns live just fine, so what is there to dislike about this, just live with it.. Didn’t you get plastic surgery to be treated better? You look better now, go out to meetings, they even said things like that.. They yelled so much, and I was crying there the whole time, saying I understood what the doctor was saying but that I was having such a hard time, and they yelled, waved me away telling me to leave, and ignored me^^ Then they shouldn’t have said it was possible when I first went haha. Why suddenly change their words and say it was difficult ㅡ^^ I was annoyed haha. All my friends said I looked better before, and I felt that way too, so except for close friends, I could barely meet people; I’ll stop there........ I could honestly write about 1,000 characters, but I’ve forgotten it now haha, not really, but I don’t pay attention to it anymore lololol.. It felt more wasteful than throwing money onto the street, but
Anyway, that’s why I had removal at a different hospital, not the hospital where I had surgery! During the consultation, when I was explaining why I wanted removal, I cried so much because I felt so upset lolololol. The doctor didn’t exactly comfort me, but he empathized well, gave enough explanation, showed cases, and I trusted him, so I think I had surgery right the next day lololololol. I said I wanted to do it as soon as possible haha. The doctor saw I was having a hard time, so he said then we should do it quickly and adjusted the schedule for me!
The hospital where I had removal surgery was in Gwangju! Everyone thinks of removal-specialized hospitals, but from my experience, I think it’s enough to receive it from someone skilled!! It depends on how you think about it haha. Even at the time, I was in a provincial area and kept wondering whether I should go to Seoul, whether I had missed the timing for early removal, what should I do, and kept looking into it!! Go to a place you feel drawn to, where you can trust your own thoughts and have surgery comfortably!!
If you have anything you’re curious about, leave a comment and I’ll let you know! I know it’s so hard, but please suffer just a little less, and it will go well, so don’t worry more~!!
