First surgery: In 2006, I had surgery with silicone and ear cartilage placed on top.
Reason for removal surgery: I had no inflammation and wasn’t greatly dissatisfied with the shape, but I always had anxiety that someday the day might come when I would need removal surgery. Then I suddenly thought, if I’m going to do it anyway, shouldn’t I do it while there’s no inflammation and while I’m even a year younger? Because of COVID, I was spending more time at home and doing less social activity, so I thought now was the right time.
Hospital consultation: I mainly researched through a community and only went to one consultation. Since I’m a married woman with a child, I didn’t have the capacity to go on a consultation tour of hospitals. I had decided that if I liked the consultation, I would proceed right away, and fortunately our thoughts matched, so it was okay. Maybe because it was a removal consultation, the consultation time wasn’t long. Since my original surgery was closed, removal could also be done closed, but if circumstances weren’t favorable it could switch to open midway, and if it switched to open, there would be an additional fee. (Probably because there are often cases where, during surgery, materials different from what the patient knows about are found.)
Reason for choosing the hospital: I wanted a doctor who wouldn’t recommend things like nasal tip cartilage repositioning and who considered capsule removal a given. More than any expectation that cartilage repositioning would make it better, or anxiety that I might need revision surgery because I didn’t like something about the shape, I had a stronger desire to never have surgery again and live comfortably. Also, after the consultation, I felt I could trust that they wouldn’t perform a surgery different from what was discussed. Most important point: whether the capsule would be removed and whether it would return to the original state after surgery ---They said they would definitely remove the capsule, and because the surgery was done such a long time ago and not much manipulation had been done, they said it would likely almost return, so I felt relieved. They said that in my condition, removing it would also be better shape-wise-ㅅㅇ
Surgery review: I thought it was straight silicone, but it was L-shaped silicone. And they said there was no ear cartilage. Ah, I once again feel that there really are so many strange doctors. If they weren’t going to put it in, why did they harvest it? ㅠㅠ Still, it’s to the point where I should be grateful they didn’t put in something unknown, because it’s better that it wasn’t there. When I went to have the stitches removed, I asked whether there was any deformation inside the nose. They said there was naturally deformation because of the silicone, but externally no deformation was visible. The major swelling and bruising went down within a week, and I met people after 12 days, but no one noticed~
Reason I’m leaving this review: I received a lot of help from this community, so I’m leaving this in hopes it will be a small help to people who are 고민ing. After removing only the L-shaped silicone, my nose returned a lot toward my original nose, and there is almost no external shape deformity. The area where the silicone had been sometimes used to tingle unpleasantly, but that symptom is gone too, and there is an appropriate distance between my eyes now, so it feels comfortable. It’s been 2 weeks now, and I feel so relieved.
