Before before before, after after after *long post warning* Has anyone gone through emotional distress after getting nasal contracture from rhinoplasty...? After my first surgery, my nose changed shape like contracture, got lower, turned upward, and the shape was ruinedㅎ First of all, in conclusion, the revision surgery was successful. At least that’s a reliefㅠ
When I had my first nose surgery, I felt like it had gone wrong from the moment the splint came off.. When hospitals tell you nonsense like “just wait” after surgery, I hope everyone filters that carefully..ㅎ Swelling literally means the nasal tip is lifted or bulky, but if your nose visibly looks crooked like mine, it’s just botched^^ On top of that, as time passed, my nose kept getting lower, the nasal tip got shorter, and it started turning upward, so even though I didn’t really have any inflammatory reaction, I wondered if this was the contracture I’d only heard about
The hospital said it wasn’t contracture and that nothing was wrong, and only kept repeating that it had gotten lower because it was absorbed over time. They said they would do an AS repair if I wanted, but even if I got revision surgery there, I wasn’t sure whether the result would actually come out properly, and first of all, I couldn’t stand looking at the director’s faceㅎ So I decided to get revision surgery at another hospital
Of course, I would have been more satisfied than before just by improving the crooked nose and the lowered nasal height, but since I was investing money and time anyway, I wanted to find a place whose aesthetic sense matched mine well, and where I could naturally improve it in the style I wanted. Also, I truly hated the idea of my nose getting lower and turning upward like after the first surgery, so from the beginning, I started going to consultations mainly at hospitals famous for revision surgery, contracture, and reconstruction, and places specializing only in noses. In my case, the poor aftercare at the first-surgery hospital was a big factor, so rather than large clinics, I thought a private clinic might give better one-on-one care in terms of follow-up management, so I think I mainly looked at places run by a single representative director
And this may differ from person to person, but personally, I thought an otolaryngology specialist would naturally know more about the nose, so I decided on revision surgery at a private clinic where an otolaryngology specialist was the representative director (When I was looking into it, the fact that most of the hospitals known for nasal reconstruction and extremely difficult noses were run by otolaryngology specialists was also one reason I thought this way)
What I really liked during the consultation was that, as I expected, the doctor truly knew a lot about the nose, so I could feel that they were an expert. I thought my nose belonged to the difficult-case category, but since the clinic is so famous for mainly difficult cases, they actually said my nose was an easy nose
And the fact that they were not listed on apps like ㄱㄴㅇㄴ or ㅂㅂㅌ also made me feel that they were operating well without excessive advertising or promotion, so if anything, I trusted them more
Especially because I was worried about contracture due to my nose having gotten lower, they said I could come every day for hyperbaric oxygen therapy if I wanted, so I thought, “As expected, aftercare is best at a one-doctor clinic..” and I really liked that part too (And since it was right in front of the station, it was easy and convenient to go for care every day)
Now I’m genuinely living so well after the surgery, and before I got revision surgery here, I had become so distressed over my nose that I almost developed social avoidance. I felt so much loss, had no energy, and was depressed, but fortunately, truly by a stroke of luck, it succeeded, so now I’m very grateful
If there are people like me who don’t know where to go because of a botched nose, I recommend first doing online research or in-person consultations mainly at places that specialize only in noses. And if you’re getting surgery from an otolaryngology specialist like I did, I think it’s important to make sure how much experience they have specifically in “rhinoplasty.” Thankfully, the place I went to said they had about 20 years of experience in “rhinoplasty” itself, but I heard that some places have only a short career specifically in rhinoplasty..! Definitely look at how they provide aftercare too.
And honestly, I actually think it’s strange if there isn’t any negative comment at all about a place, you know? Instead, I think what matters is how the hospital responds when surgical dissatisfaction occurs. This kind of information may be hard to find, but at least as far as you can check, I hope you carefully look into hospitals while confirming every part you can! Everyone, fighting with revision surgeryㅠㅠㅠ!
