Premier Clinic was relocated and renamed, and it opened again in Sinnonhyeon as Tiana Plastic Surgery. First of all, I’ll show you the photos from the nose surgery.
It’s now been 5 months since the surgery. For 5 months the runny discharge never stopped, so I couldn’t go anywhere without tissues. Water kept coming out of my nose like I was squeezing juice from it. I kept thinking it would get better with time, but it’s already been 5 months. I kept deliberating, but the reason I decided to write this and let people know is that my nose is still crooked, and after getting a cold, instead of discharge coming out of both sides, it still comes out like crazy only from that one straight nostril.
With a cold, it should come out from both sides, but the mucus pours out only from one side...
Results 5 months after surgery - I wanted correction for a crooked nose and a slightly lifted tip, but the bridge bent in the opposite direction from the way it had originally been bent. - The nose twisted to one side (even if there is asymmetry, my nose before was not this severe. If it couldn’t be fixed because of asymmetry, it should have bent in the same direction as the old nose.) - So the nostrils became uneven. They look like the number 10. - Not even half of a pinky fingernail fits in. - I keep wiping one side of my nose all day, 24/7 like an idiot. - It keeps pouring out like I’m squeezing juice, and before I know it, the mucus swells into a droplet. - It’s hard to breathe through the one side of my nose. - The donated rib cartilage can be felt inside the narrow nose, and it still hurts. - It is tilted and sticking out to one side. - The nose shape seen from the right side is neither straight nor properly curved, while the nose seen from the left side is straight. The side profiles are different... I guess because it’s pulled to one side.
It looks like something went wrong from the start, but I was told it was because of swelling, so I waited 4 months... only the volume went down, and the crooked nose stayed the same.
I paid in the high 5-million-won range and have been under lifelong stress. I want to know what went wrong. When I asked them to send me the before-and-after photos and CT images, they said it was personal information and that a proxy had to visit in person with a power of attorney. I’m sending them my own personal information like progress photos from week 1, week 2, and 1 month after surgery, but they say they can’t send me my own photos. (I’ve received photos from other plastic surgery clinics before. Even dental clinics send CT scans. When I mentioned that, they said it was only their hospital’s rule.)
The director’s words were brief, and he seemed very experienced. He said it wasn’t perfect, but that he could improve it, so I was taken in and had the surgery...
But now that it turned out this way, looking back, there was no explanation during the consultation about the surgical process, the direction it would take, or possible side effects, and they never explained how they would do the surgery. I never heard which silicone would be used, or what donated rib cartilage even was. (I had already consulted at other clinics, so I didn’t ask more.) - But as a doctor, that is a violation of the duty to explain. I was told nothing about the surgical method or side effects.
They said they would do the design before surgery, but on the day of surgery they just laid me on the operating table and started immediately without any design markings on my face.
"Especially as a doctor, if the cosmetic surgery to be performed cannot realize all of the specific results the client wants, and can only realize part of them, then the doctor has a duty to explain that in detail so the client can decide whether to undergo the procedure. They did not explain this with enough time before surgery, and the patient did not make the decision after being aware of the side effects and carefully considering them."
- The coordinator was very pushy about making a reservation, and said Director Choi was extremely busy but would make time for surgery. They even scheduled the operation right away, saying they’d ask whether it could be done, while saying it might not be possible. When I asked, while worrying about side effects, what response there would be if my nose became crooked or problems arose, they answered very confidently: Director Choi Hang-seok had no side effects. Book the surgery for tomorrow. They also said aftercare would be possible within 1 year.
My face is facing forward, but my nose is looking slightly to the side.
After my nose ended up like this, when I asked the coordinator via private chat about revision rhinoplasty, she said she wasn’t quitting her job, but a few days later the coordinator’s account was shut down and disappeared.
After that, even when I contacted the official Premier KakaoTalk in October, the clinic never said on its own that it was closing or that I should contact the relocating clinic. They just told me to contact Premier. (I live overseas.) They did not tell me to contact the clinic they moved to. Later, when I kept sending other KakaoTalk messages to the clinic, another coordinator contacted me.
I asked for a refund, but they said no and that revision would have to be decided after an examination. My plane ticket alone costs 3 million won. Even if they said they would do revision surgery, I don’t know whether I would even go, because even after seeing those photos they still say to come in and see, and they’ll do it if needed. Even if they do it, I don’t know whether it would end up normal, and the consultation is like this, so I no longer want to do anything there. Now that it’s been 5 months and the function of one side of my nose has worsened, I have even less trust that they can do another surgery there.
After I found out that Director Choi’s clinic had moved, I asked several times whether that was really the case and asked them to answer me, and only then did they finally tell me that the clinic was moving. Patients have the right to know, and doctors have a duty to explain. Even though the clinic moved in November, when I contacted them in October they only told me to contact Premier, and never even hinted that it was moving to Tiana.
For anyone thinking about plastic surgery, I hope you make a careful decision. I’m only telling the facts I experienced, and I’m posting this surgery review.
