Honestly, until last week, there wasn’t much change, and eating and talking were so uncomfortable. Now that it’s this week, the swelling has gone down a bit more, and once I adopted the mindset of “what can I do, I had the surgery,” I feel more at ease and am living fairly satisfied. For facial contouring surgery, I really recommend thinking it over twice, three times, even 10 times before doing it.. It’s hard to control your mindset during the recovery period. I had thought about it for 10 years, so I went ahead with it, but even then I regretted it during recovery... I want to talk about the swelling and sensation, which were the things I focused on most while recovering.
<Sensation> Both cheekbones still feel numb and tingly when I touch them, like they’re not my own skin, and my lower jaw, lower gums, and 2/3 of my lower lip still have no sensation. The cheekbones don’t cause a big problem in daily life, but because the nerves in my lower jaw haven’t fully come back, my mouth shape looks awkward when I talk,, thankfully people don’t notice because I’m wearing a mask. Sensation has returned in both sides of my jaw. When I touch my lower teeth with my tongue, they feel like they’re not my own teeth, so I hope this improves quicklyㅠㅠ My upper lip had sensation right after surgery.
<Mouth opening> Since week 3, I’ve been doing oral exercises by practicing lifting the corners of my mouth~ But the hospital told me to be careful until month 2, so I’m not opening my mouth wide. Until week 3, I could fit one and a half fingers in, and from this week I can fit two fingers in without strain haha Even before surgery, my mouth size made it hard to fit three fingers? so I’m not even hoping for four, and my goal is to fit three fingers~
<Swelling> I was talking with a friend I hadn’t told about the surgery, and when I lowered my mask up to my cheekbones, they didn’t notice at all~ That must mean my cheekbones are the same size as before surgery, right? ㅜㅜ I still want to think it’s swelling... My chin used to be long + receded, so I had chin advancement and chin surgery, and I can definitely feel that my chin has become shorter. As for a double chin? I’m still not sure.
I’ll post another review at month 2!
