I had double-eyelid surgery 10+ years ago and it went well, so I lived forgetting about it, but as the fat in my eyes started to decrease, multiple eyelid folds formed. I debated whether to correct it or leave it alone, then went around for consultations. There are many clinics famous for double-eyelid surgery, but I focused mainly on clinics where, if possible, I wouldn’t need revision even after another 10+ years, and where they could make changes around the eyes together while doing double-eyelid surgery. My priorities were as below
A. Do they look not only at making the eyes pretty but also at harmony? B. Is the shape designed with age-related eyelid drooping in mind? C. Is it safe? (ex. clinics also famous for revision surgery, possible abnormal swelling and scarring, eye balance-asymmetry, A/S period, etc..etc)
1. ㅇㅈ (consultation fee 10,000 won) - It was good because the director saw me and gave overall consulting - Since it was revision surgery, considering the possibility it might come undone, incision was recommended over non-incision (they pointed out shapes possible with incision and shapes possible with non-incision) - They also consulted on my original complex, the glabella area of my nose; they took photos and explained the principle right away on an iPad, so it was easy to understand - The cost differs depending on the method, such as buried suture, incision, non-incision, etc. - A/S period 3 years
2. ㄱㅎㅅ (consultation fee 5,000 won) - The clinic and the director are both famous for having been around a long time - The director explained about 4 surgical methods in the order he recommended, and the rest could be discussed additionally with the consultant - They honestly said what I didn’t need to do was okay not to do, and told me in advance what might look excessive (excessive fat repositioning, etc..) - Their basic preferred aesthetic is natural harmony, so I recommend it if you like a subtly changing feel - I remember the A/S period as 1 year
3. ㄸㅋ (consultation fee X) - I reserved saying I wanted to meet directors in each specialty (Directors ㄱㅎㅅ, ㄱㅈㅎ) - They asked whether I had desired eyes and explained possible surgical methods while shaping the line - They recommended while showing the angle or incision method according to concerns such as future drooping - They roughly showed how it would feel when only one eye was held and when the opposite eye was held - For facial fat grafting too, if I mentioned areas where I worried about sagging, they honestly told me how they would add it or whether not to add it - A/S period 1 year
*This was reconstructed based on my personal memory, so the A/S period or details may differ slightly There is a mix of single-director clinics and clinics with separate departments.
I went to many more consultations besides the 3 above, but I wrote only the clinics that were the most recent and that I liked. It’s hard to make appointments because it’s the season these days, but I got a lot of help too, so I’m writing this hoping it helps everyone doing online research and in-person consultations.
If your preferred aesthetic matches the director, ㅇㅈ is good; if you like something natural without obvious signs, ㄱㅎㅅ; if you want a custom preferred aesthetic, ㄸㅋ. But I’m still debating.. It’s peak season now and, as everyone probably feels, it’s hard to make time. They’re all clinics where I could consult with the directors, and they were meticulous so I liked them, but I think I’ll do it at 1 of 2 places..
