Eight years ago, when I was very young and didn’t know anything, money was an issue too, but because I was living with my parents and was focused only on not getting caught, I looked for a place where I could do square jaw surgery and cheekbone surgery at the same time. Back then, quick zygoma surgery was extremely popular. It seems to have decreased a bit now, though. It was a large clinic near Apgujeong Station, but when I looked it up now, it seems they specialize in things like liposuction and fat grafting. I didn’t even look up its current location because I can’t stand the sight of it.
I think it cost about 5.5 million won for quick zygoma and square jaw surgery together. Stupidly, for that amount, nowadays I could probably get a clean full zygoma reduction as my first surgery instead of quick zygoma, but back then I was only thinking that I wanted to become pretty quickly, so I went for it right away.
As a result, honestly, there is no visible difference in appearance, and instead asymmetry developed. Because I didn’t want to bother acknowledging the side effects of quick zygoma surgery, I just pretended not to know and lived with it. Now that I’m a bit older and photoshopping and those kinds of pictures have become meaningless, the failed quick zygoma surgery is hitting me as reality.
When I got a CT scan, one cheekbone had split into two pieces and settled far apart, and the cut area was even at a point that had absolutely no effect on reducing the cheekbone. On one side, at least the bones are attached to each other, but on the cheekbone side where they are completely separated from each other, fibrous tissue has settled between the skeletal structures, which is why I was able to live like a person without even bigger complications.
Once I started paying attention to things like this, I felt like I was going crazy, so I asked several places. Even at a hospital that collaborates with dentistry, they said it would be better to leave it alone and just live with it if possible. Honestly, I don’t regret myself for making a rushed choice with that young mindset. The bad ones are the doctors who advertised and sold a surgery that could have had no effect.
