Before <This is my face before surgery> After <This is one month after surgery> My jaw was longer than other people's, so I had always lived with it as a source of stress. At another dental clinic, not this hospital, they said it could be improved with orthodontic treatment, but not as much as I expected... no, I didn't really feel like it was improving. So after making up my mind that I wanted surgery on the face I had been worrying about for 10 years, I searched and looked around on YouTube for a month. But Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery captured my heart, and before I knew it, I went in for a consultation.
<Before surgery> Before the surgery, I visited the hospital about one more time to fit the wafer, do blood tests, and several other examinations. I started fasting and packed what I needed while watching other people's reviews and YouTube reviews. But they really had everything, so I think I only bought one thing, "Daiso sauce." I bought a humidifier from Coupang to use after coming home from surgery. After finishing all the preparations, I got ready for surgery, and finally the day of surgery came.
Day of surgery (9/26) I arrived at the hospital around 9:30, changed into patient clothes, and although I was really scared inside, I waited while pretending not to be scared. I lay down on the operating table, and as soon as they said, "Breathe, the anesthetic gas will go in now," I had no memory after that. When I came to, it was around 3 o'clock. From YouTube or reviews by people who had surgery, it didn't seem like they struggled that much, but in my case, because I have a larger build and weigh more, my head hurt so much after I woke up from anesthesia. Originally, I was supposed to visit for 2 days, but I was in so much pain that I only went in for 1 day and took care of the rest at home. It was hard in many ways, like having to sleep sitting up after surgery, difficulty breathing, having to wear a drain for a day, and being tightly wrapped in bandages. It was more uncomfortable than I had expected, and my body hurt so much. (I really regretted it. I was in so much pain that I thought, ah, maybe I shouldn't have had the surgery?)
The long-awaited 1-month mark
Has the swelling gone down a lot compared to the beginning?? From 2 to 3 weeks, after day 14, I honestly thought it looked exactly the same, but first of all, my family said a lot had gone down, that a little swelling remained, but it seemed like it would be hard to recognize my previous face. They said that although I had undergone a risky surgery, if you (the person writing this) like it, then that's a relief, and only then did they finally breathe a sigh of relief.
I was really satisfied, and I started thinking that I wanted the swelling to go down quickly so I could make a girlfriend... ㅋㅌㅌㅋㅋㅌㅋ (I found someone I can spend December 25 with!!!) Maybe because of the surgery, or because I improved the complex I had in mind, my confidence went up. I'm currently talking to a good person and I'm happy.
What I simply thought after having the surgery is:
If I am really stressed and having a hard time because of this face, rather than living with my facial complex as the main focus instead of what I consider important, I think it is better to save money, have the surgery, and regain confidence. (This is my personal opinion.) I have seen many people on YouTube, in comments, and on blogs who, like me, are considering surgery and are very scared. I hope reading my post gives you strength. Rather than not doing it, after doing it you will be 100% no, 10000000% satisfied.
