I thought just reducing the nostrils would be enough, but the director said it would only look natural if I also addressed alar drooping and alar curvature.
I decided to have alar reduction + correction of alar drooping + correction of alar curvature at Unimedi in Apgujeong, and scheduled the surgery for November 2020. I was very nervous because I was afraid it would hurt, but the anesthetic injection hurt the most, and I didn’t feel any pain during the surgery at all. I didn’t have separate sleep anesthesia, and the surgery took about an hour. After it ended, I lay down for a bit and was discharged right away.
Because of the swelling, my nasal bridge also looked higher. Once the anesthesia wore off, I had a slight throbbing only that evening, and from the next day it didn’t hurt. Thanks to COVID, I kept wearing a mask at the office until the stitches came out, so no one knew I had had nostril surgery. A week later I went to have the stitches removed, but it hadn’t healed yet so it was extended by another week.
After a month the swelling had gone down to some extent (though there was still a tiny bit left until about 4 to 5 months later), and now, 6 months later, it looks much more natural, and it became so naturally prettier that people don’t realize I had surgery. With the nostrils reduced, there’s also the effect that the nasal bridge looks higher by comparison. But the scar around the nostrils lasts a very long time. It’s still faintly there, and there’s still some redness around the nostrils. I’ll probably need to go get scar laser treatment soon.
It turned out so naturally and beautifully without looking obvious that I’m very satisfied. I do wish I had reduced the nostrils a little more, but I’m extremely happy even now.
