It was under general anesthesia, so if something went wrong after surgery, I would have to be bounced around emergency rooms. You have to think of the worst-case scenario too.
You should definitely remember this too: 1. Never go somewhere without an anesthesiology specialist on site. (You can find cases even just on YouTube where people died because there was no anesthesiologist.) 2. Even if there is an anesthesiologist, don’t go to a factory-style place with more than 10 doctors. (The anesthesiologist goes around from patient to patient.)
I looked into 3 hospitals: ㅂㄹㅇ / ㅇㅈㅊㄱ / Seoul Face 21. I made a reservation at ㅂㄹㅇ because I saw them on YouTube and trusted them, but they said the wait could be over 4 hours, and since there were more than 12 doctors, it felt factory-style, so I just passed. (It was the cheapest in terms of cost.) I was going back and forth between ㅇㅈㅊㄱ and Seoul Face 21.
I chose Seoul Face 21. The doctor had worked at a university hospital for a long time and runs the hospital under his own name, (for reference, he is Lee Yoon-ji’s husband) so I chose it thinking that if an accident happened, the impact would be big, so they would try to prevent medical accidents. (The cost was the most expensive.)
When I first had the consultation, the waiting time was 1 hour and 30 minutes, and the cost was very different from the event price, so keep that in mind. For reference, I did not ask them to lower the price. It’s not like they would do a sloppy job just because they gave a discount, but still, it feels like being in the weaker position from the customer’s side.
- Receding chin consultation with Dr. Jung Hanul First of all, hospitals these days all have to make money, so they are kind, but within that kindness, we have to find sharpness, whether the doctor is accurately understanding my needs. If we are thinking in different directions, the surgery can go off track. When I said that I currently have a receding chin, it is set back, and I am unhappy that it is short, he grasped it well and said it seemed enough to advance it forward and lower it just a little. If lowered more, the chin would look long, and the current proportions are not bad. He also said the double chin would improve a little. He pointed things out well. It was simple. I’m not deciding on surgery just based on kindness.
- Sub-brow lift with Dr. Ahn Moonyoung I originally planned to do the sub-brow lift somewhere else, at ㅁㅊㅍ Plastic Surgery. But since I live in the provinces, I wanted to do my eyes and chin at the same time. And if you get them done together, recovery is faster too... It is a simple surgery, so I thought I would at least have a consultation, and Dr. Ahn Moonyoung did the consultation very passionately. It was like, he would really do his absolute best. He listened to everything I wanted and tried to find a method. And the one reason I chose him: He did not recommend lateral canthoplasty. He honestly said that even without doing it, the effect I wanted could be sufficiently achieved with a sub-brow lift, so I decided. Otherwise, for the same price, I would have gone to a hospital specializing only in eyes.
- On the day of surgery. I was scheduled to be hospitalized for one day, and when I went, I consulted with the director again, but maybe because it was before surgery, or maybe because they did not want the consultation to go long, the consultation manager came in with us? Like, was that telling me to finish talking quickly... (I felt slightly bad.) And I was surprised that Director Jung Hanul had planned the data for my surgery in advance. He came having already decided through some program how many millimeters to lower it. He seemed considerably more sensitive than during the first consultation, and because the doctor always talks about the same things with patients, he may be tired of explaining, but for me, it is my first chin surgery, so it’s not like I can understand everything in the doctor’s mind, right? Anyway, that’s how it was.
For the eye surgery, Dr. Ahn Moonyoung did his best in the second consultation too. When I asked what he thought about making the incision a bit longer, even though I made him repeat the same explanation, he did not look annoyed at all. Without any sensitive nuance, he was genuinely kind. (The swelling needs to go down more to know, but I think the surgery went well.) I avoid doctors who are too young, but this person’s explanations were very specific, and I could see that he was trying to explain medical things easily.
- Nursing service after hospitalization / Single room / The hospital room was clean / There was a sink inside the room, so it was good for lightly washing my face or spitting / It was central heating, so it was hot and I turned on the air conditioner / The room was too dry; there was a humidifier, but I did not turn it on / Spacious / All the nurses were kind
First of all, I have not been hospitalized many times in my life, but I don’t know why, especially the unkindness of plastic surgery nurses? Is it a difference in hospital size? Anyway, I know nurses can be unfriendly, but here they were unexpectedly kind. (Not that expressionless, machine-like tone; they were kind.) They brought water separately, changed the tissues, washed my hair, and told me I could ask for more food if the meal was not enough. During the one day I was hospitalized, should I say I felt reassured? The bell like the one in a restaurant was on the table, and when I pressed it, they came right away and solved things without acting annoyed.
- After surgery Same day: After the anesthesia wore off, it gradually started hurting, but not to the point that I couldn’t bear it. I also slept well. (Pain that was fully manageable.) Day 1: Honestly, I didn’t know if it hurt, but swelling started from this point. Day 2: Maximum swelling. It did not hurt. Day 3: Gradually going down. One unusual point is that I have no sensation in my lower teeth, and the feeling is quite uncomfortable...
