My eyesight is bad, so I had been wearing glasses since elementary school,
and my vision is quite poor.
I have high myopia and severe astigmatism, and my glasses are extremely thick.
I wanted to get rid of my glasses quickly, so before being discharged from the military,
I went for a SMILE LASIK consultation.
First, they immediately start with eye examinations.
They do a vision test like the hot-air-balloon test we do when getting glasses,
and they check the corneal condition, how much tear production there is, and the degree of dry eye.

At first, I went to the clinic thinking, of course I should get it done by the head director, right?
But there were several other directors too, and they all had a lot of experience, so I was torn.

The head director was 2.8 million won, and the other directors were 2.6 million and 2.4 million won.
I do not particularly care about money, since these are the eyes I will use for the rest of my life, so what does money matter?
So I asked the consultant for a lot of recommendations.
When I asked, "Who would be best?" the nurse also thought about it a lot.
The head director literally has a lot of experience and has been doing it the longest, so the price is higher.
But!
They said post-op care can only be done once by him.
After surgery, you have to go to the clinic within a week to check whether the surgery was done properly.
At that time only, the head director checks you, and from then on, another director checks your eye condition, they said.
So the nurse said that if I was okay with that, I could get it from the head director,
or the others are also excellent, so I could trust anyone and get it done by them.
She said it confidently, so I felt much more reassured.
They said Director S.D.H. had studied the cornea a lot,
and since my condition was a little poor in that area, it would be good to get it done by him.
Also, all the directors have a lot of surgical experience,
so I think you can feel reassured about getting it done.
So I also made the final decision to have surgery with Director S.D.H., as the nurse recommended.
Surgery process
So I immediately prepared for surgery.
The operating room is quite cold.
I do not know why, but when I said I was cold,
there was a blanket and a stuffed doll in the operating room,
so they covered me with the blanket and gave me the stuffed doll.
Because of that, I felt like I was a little less nervous.
During surgery, you absolutely cannot move your eyes, and in my case, even during cosmetic procedures,
I know I have to stay still, but because I think about that, I sometimes flinch.
But once the surgery actually started, they put anesthetic eye drops in my eyes, and then
it felt like about 98% of the sensation in my eyes disappeared.
When you look at the green light, they fix a machine onto your eye,
and it seemed like it was fixing my eye so it would not close.
Then the surgery proceeds, and it does not hurt at all.
It is just enough to slightly understand how the surgery is progressing?
I do not think you need to worry about whether it hurts during surgery.
Immediately after surgery
Once the surgery ends, you cannot see well because everything is blurry.
I really think a guardian needs to be with you.
I came by car with my parents, so I got home safely.
Everyone should definitely go with your parents too.
When the anesthesia started wearing off after surgery
In my case, after about 1 to 2 hours, the anesthesia started to wear off.
So when I kept my eyes open, it felt painful, so I kept them closed,
but it was really hard to open my eyes again.
Suddenly I had no strength in my eyes, and when I opened them, it felt painful because of the light.
So for 3 hours, I ate with my eyes closed and kept resting.
The nurse said it would not really matter if I looked at my phone,
but it hurt anyway, so I could not look at my phone lol.
After about 5 hours, the pain in my eyes disappeared,
and from then on, it felt like my vision was improving by the hour?
Things I could not see gradually recovered and became visible.
That feeling was really fascinating.
I thought, now it is starting.
The day after surgery
When I woke up in the morning, I could see the clock far away.
It was not to the point of seeing perfectly clearly, but I was still happy just that I could see it.
In a good mood, I went to the clinic
to have my eye condition checked.
At the clinic, they did a vision test, and it already seemed to be around 1.0 to 1.2.
So it was fascinating.
Then I had a consultation with the director, and he said the surgery went completely well,
so for some reason I felt happy.
So we decided to meet again in a month.
It has now been one week since the surgery, and there is nothing strange, just a slight feeling of glare/halos,
so it seems like it will gradually recover over the course of a month.
Everyone, SMILE LASIK is really good.
