My daughter was concerned that her bulbous nose and low nasal bridge made the area between her eyes look wide, so we booked consultations at two places famous for rhinoplasty, received consultations in person, and then decided on the same day as the consultation to have surgery at Kim Sang Beom Plastic Surgery.
The reason we could decide right away at the first consultation was because we deeply agreed with Director Kim Sang Beom's explanation that during surgery, you need to look directly at your own nose and choose the height and shape you want in order to avoid problems that could lead to revision surgery later.
In reality, in the operating room, they made a total of 3 different shapes for us to look at, and after that, we made the final decision on the nose shape we wanted, and they performed the surgery exactly that way.
He said that the regret that comes after surgery, like 'I should have tried it differently...' ultimately leads to revision surgery, so the person should directly see and choose their own nose shape.
I sincerely agreed with his words that it should not be the nose chosen by the doctor, but the nose the patient wants, so there would be no lingering regrets.
For my daughter, they used 4 mm silicone and ear cartilage to gather and shape the nasal tip. When we tried 5 mm, the curve between the forehead and glabella looked unnatural, so we changed it back to 4 mm.
If we had not tried 5 mm, she definitely would have regretted it, thinking, I should have gone a little higher...
But!!!
For some reason, from about 2-3 days after surgery, the pretty nose shape we saw in the operating room seemed less apparent, and both alar bases and nostrils looked asymmetric, so I was really worried.
I was anxious because it did not seem to be just a swelling issue, but yesterday, Saturday!!! Thankfully, we found out why the two alar bases had changed.
A major incident happened: all the stitches on the right side of the nose, where the nasal tip had been shaped, had come undone!!!
I suspect that my child said it felt like there was a big booger in the nose, and then in her sleep she put her finger into the nostril and poked around.
No wonder it had seemed so strange. During surgery, he carefully checked even the nostrils, saying they should not become upturned, so I could not understand why the two alar bases and nostrils had changed.
In the end, we went to have the stitches removed but had to get it stitched again. Still, once he gathered the loosened side again, shaped it, and tied it,
thankfully, both alar bases and nostrils were aligned again, and the pretty alar shape we had seen in the operating room came back!!!^^
Whew~~ I was worried, but I am so relieved.
I was so grateful to both the director and the consultant for responding so kindly.
My daughter had always wanted a natural-looking nose, so I thought she meant a low nose, but when I listened to her during the consultation, it was actually a somewhat demanding nose shape: defined, but without looking obviously surgically enhanced.
Now it is 2 weeks after surgery.
There is still swelling, and because one side of the nose was stitched again on Saturday, there was the extraordinary event of swelling more when others would be deswelling, but I think choosing this clinic was a satisfying choice with no regrets.
Honestly, Director Kim Sang Beom himself seemed to pursue naturalness and safety even more than we did.
My daughter tried a total of 3 nose shapes in the operating room, so she has no regrets at all about thinking she should have tried it differently.
If someone in my family gets rhinoplasty again, I think I would recommend Kim Sang Beom Plastic Surgery as my first choice.
Right now, one side of the nose was stitched again on Saturday, so it is plumply swollen again, but once the swelling goes down, I will upload pretty nose-shape bragging photos.
