I should post this under surgery failures, but my level is low, so I’m posting it under eye reviews.
During winter break in my second year of high school, for my very first cosmetic surgery, I had incisional double eyelid surgery, ptosis correction, and an upper canthoplasty. At the time, I didn’t even know the term “sausage eyes,” so I was looking up all kinds of photos of the line I wanted. Since I knew nothing about cosmetic surgery, I thought the doctor would surely know better than me what double eyelid line suited my eyes best, so during the consultation I asked him to make a line that suited my eyes lol. I was stupid. I didn’t even go around for consultations. My parents said they had seen the eyes of an acquaintance’s daughter who had it done there and thought they looked good, and since it wasn’t a large hospital but only one director, I felt reassured, thinking I wouldn’t have to worry about a hired doctor. On top of that, when I mentioned lower canthoplasty and lateral canthoplasty, he absolutely did not recommend them, so I thought he was conscientious and trusted him even more. But.. should I call it aesthetic sense? Despite looking quite elderly, his skill was below standard. He said double eyelid lines really get lower as time passes, so he made it high at first. But why are my eyes still thick now, three years later by the count of years... Of course, the swelling has gone down a lot, and thankfully there are no side effects. But the thickness of my eyelids is still thick, even if it is an outfold line, and when I close my eyes and open them, I wonder, is this really a double eyelid? Why is the flesh still folded on my eyes even when they’re closed? I got so stressed that I started looking up all kinds of things about sausage eyes. With ptosis correction + full incision, and on top of that the line being high, it would be strange if sausage eyes didn’t happen. Plus, whether it’s fat in my eyes or skin thickness, my eyes are on the thicker side, so the line absolutely should not have been made large.. Even I learned that after just a little research, so really.. From the start, it’s my fault for asking him to make it suit my eyes, not going around for consultations at all, and trusting the doctor’s aesthetic sense. If I had done buried sutures and they had come loose, or if the line had lowered into an inner double eyelid, I would have thought I was just destined to live with monolids or inner double eyelids. But with the line awkwardly high like this, all I can think is that I have to lower it somehow.. Time, money, and emotions are all being spent, and it’s hard.
