I had a consultation at a clinic today, and now I’m even more conflicted.
I had a CT scan, and my nose was quite crooked. They said it’s a deviated septum. So they told me to do functional nose surgery together. Of course, they said I don’t have to if I don’t want to, but if I have insurance, they recommend doing it while opening the nose. They showed me the CT, and it really was very crooked. So I wondered if I should do functional nose surgery at the same time while I’m at it, and went to a second clinic.
The second clinic didn’t do a CT scan separately. So I told them that when I had a CT scan elsewhere, they said it was a deviated septum. But they said that during rhinoplasty, in order to harvest the septal cartilage, they have to open the nose, straighten the septum, and then harvest it. So they said they would naturally straighten the septum without charging separately. So I received a quote without separating it into functional nose surgery and cosmetic rhinoplasty.
What I’m worried about is, did the first clinic go out of their way to recommend functional nose surgery unnecessarily.. ( Of course, to open up the nasal airway more, they were going to straighten the crooked part, plus there was some additional procedure ) Or did the second clinic say they would just straighten it as a temporary measure because I have rhinitis but they don’t have the ability to treat the rhinitis.....
