3-Year Review of Orthodontic Treatment

Because my teeth were not aligned properly and I thought my mouth protruded a little, I started orthodontic treatment right after finishing military service. The cost was about 3.5 million KRW, and it was an orthodontic specialty clinic in Gwangju, Gyeonggi Province.

During the consultation, I learned that I had a slightly underdeveloped lower jaw, and they said if I pulled my mouth inward, the underbite might look more pronounced, so we decided not to extract any teeth. I also had some reluctance about pulling out healthy teeth.

After the treatment, there was no dramatic aesthetic change, but one of my right molars had been tilted and I could not chew properly, and I think that was fixed, so I am glad. My bite looks neatly aligned, so I think it was fine... But aside from the cost of the treatment, make sure you go in with the mindset that you will have to wear a retainer for the rest of your life. I am someone who hates hassle and prefers comfort, so it feels a little inconvenient.

What I ultimately feel is that if someone with a severe protruding mouth gets orthodontic treatment for aesthetic reasons, it can be really dramatic. (I still regret that I should have retracted it a little more.)
