Hi, I’m new here and now past my mid-20s..
While looking around here and there to research plastic surgery, I found out about a community, and I came because I wanted to share a review related to LASIK.
Did everyone have that kind of experience when they were young? You know, thinking your mom and dad looked cool wearing glasses, so you’d pointlessly sit in front of the TV trying to make your eyesight worse. Ever since I was little, I was so envious of people wearing glasses that I did it on purpose lolololol From 4th grade in elementary school, I lived wearing glasses every day because of astigmatism.
As I got older, it became more and more inconvenient. First of all, I also hated that my appearance was hidden.
So I decided I should get LASEK with my military savings. Honestly, I didn’t even know the difference between LASEK and LASIK, and just blindly deciding to do it was seriously crazy lololol
I think it was around when I was a corporal in the military, maybe February when I was 21?
For choosing the clinic too, I honestly just searched LASIK on Naver and went to the place that came up at the very top. I think I went about it really frighteningly.
At the clinic, they examined my eyes for free and explained the differences between LASEK, LASIK, and SMILE LASIK. Back then I went with the mindset of “let’s just look into clinics without money,” so I said, “Ah, yes,” and just left.
Honestly, I was scared of side effects, like dry eye syndrome.. This is the only thing I looked up, sorry. Anyway, I was scared of side effects.
After I was discharged from the military, I had what felt like a decent lump sum? so I started wanting to do it again. So I just went with my mom without much planning.
After making a clinic appointment, we went.
The person at the front desk recognized me;;
In terms of time, it was more than half a year after I had gone.
“Oh, you’re the soldier who came last time, right~ I remember~” They said that, and it was a slightly touching moment..
“You only had the exam last time and left, right~ If you book surgery on the same day, our discount won’t apply ”
That’s what they told me, but I cheerfully said “Yep” and had the exam and got ready for surgery.
I was scared of LASEK/LASIK, so even though it was a bit more expensive, I had SMILE LASIK. They said it gets better in just one day and has fewer side effects.
When I was 11, I had facial hemiparalysis called Bell’s palsy, and I guess at that time a wound formed on the cornea of my left eye.
They said even if I had surgery on my left eye, the vision wouldn’t return as much as my right eye.
So I just said “Yep” and had the surgery.
From 0.2 and 0.3, it went up to 0.9 and 1.0 lolol On the day of surgery, I went holding onto my mom’s arm, but I do think you don’t really need a guardian. If you open your eyes, they sting, but it’s not to the point where you can’t open them and leave (while shedding tears nonstop). I didn’t bring sunglasses and just went home like that, yep.
These days I’m living a happy life.
I thought about side effects, and first of all I don’t have dry eye syndrome, and glare/halos? It doesn’t feel like, “Whoa hey, my glare is insanely bad.” I’m just so unfazed that I can’t even remember how I used to see before.
I don’t drink or smoke, and I put in eye drops consistently, so I had no side effects and it was good.
Ah, my left-eye vision seems to have dropped slightly, so I’m planning to go to the clinic soon ㅇ.<
