It has been more than 5 years since I underwent extraction orthodontic treatment for a protruding mouth.
The orthodontic result itself is being maintained well, and I don’t have any major dissatisfaction.
But what I think after several years have passed is that orthodontic treatment definitely has its limits.
Through extraction orthodontics, you can set the mouth back, but because of that, the face loses dimensionality. There is a dimensionality that is hard to confirm in photos.
As that dimensionality disappears, the face starts to feel broad and flat. That said, if you ask whether surgery is the alternative, I’m not sure that is right either. Rather than pursuing an overly dramatic change, I think an appropriate compromise is needed.
