9-year LASEK review

I had high myopia of -5.5 and weak accommodation, so I was a difficult case who couldn’t see well either near or far. I consulted Clinic A and Clinic B, which said they would take a conservative approach. Clinic A suggested undercorrecting to a target vision of around 0.7, and Clinic B also couldn’t give a definite answer about the result and seemed inwardly uncomfortable because I was a difficult customer. But once I ultimately decided to do it at Clinic B, they decided to correct me close to emmetropic correction without overcorrecting. It hurt for about 3 days, and because it was LASEK, recovery took about 6 months to 1 year until my eyes felt completely comfortable like my own eyes. Afterward, I could see both near and far well. I had worried there might be trouble reading books, but there’s no issue reading or working on the computer. I’ve also used my phone before sleeping with the lights off quite a few times, and my vision still comes out close to 1.0. However, my pupils are on the large side, so I have glare/halos and night driving is uncomfortable. I also became sensitive to light, so I use sunglasses more often than before when the sunlight is strong. And when my condition is bad, I sometimes felt a stinging sensation around the cornea. At those times, taking eye supplements made it better. It took 6-12 months until I could properly focus and study, so definitely consider the recovery period before doing it! If you need quick recovery, SMILE LASIK may be better.
