I had it done about 5 years ago. It’s been so long that my memory is a bit hazy, but I’ll write what I remember.

First of all, I decided to do it because of the fast recovery and low pain. It’s been so long that I don’t remember the doctor or the cost
Before surgery, the hospital first checked my eyes overall, and my corneal thickness came out suitable for surgery, so I lived without contact lenses and wore glasses for about a week before having the surgery. I think the eye exam was detailed, with about 10 different tests.
On the day of surgery, I went to the hospital, changed clothes, and followed the instructions into the operating room. They put liquid anesthetic into my eyes and started. It was my first eye surgery, so I was really nervous. Still, thanks to the anesthetic eye drops, the surgery didn’t hurt at all. If you follow the doctor’s instructions and try to stare at the dot, it ends quickly.
The surgery time was maybe about 5 minutes. They said it was over and I got up. Even though everything looked kind of cloudy, it wasn’t that I couldn’t see at all. It felt like something had temporarily gotten into eyes that could see well, making me unable to see clearly? That’s what it felt like. It was really fascinating.
On the taxi ride home, as the anesthesia wore off, I started to feel an unpleasant pain, like my eyes were going to fall out. So as soon as I got home, I took medicine and kept sleeping. I woke up about 2-3 times while sleeping, and even then I had stinging + a little pain like my eyes might fall out, so I kept sleeping. After spending about a day like that, the pain disappeared, and I started to see well.
I felt so good then. I don’t know now if I’ve gotten used to it or if it disappeared, but at first, glare and dryness were a bit severe.
But now, 5 years later, I almost don’t notice them. I feel glare a bit when I’m tired, but I think people are normally like that when they’re tired, aren’t they?
Then I went for a checkup, and my visual acuity came out up to 1.2. I haven’t measured it recently, but I think it’s around 0.8. My eyesight was originally really bad, so I did it knowing it could worsen, and even now I’m extremely, extremely satisfied that I can live without glasses or contact lenses!
I don’t know what hospitals are like now, but I hope everyone looks into it well and has surgery safely!
