My son had surgery for a deviated septum when he was in middle school, but it recurred, so he had revision surgery. We had not even thought about cosmetic surgery, but they said raising the nasal tip would help with breathing, so we agreed, and they also said they would correct the crooked nose, so we said okay. Then I asked if they could narrow the wide nasal base, and they said it was possible, so I requested it. His nasal bridge was already on the high side, so I said I did not want it raised, and I said I would prefer the nasal tip to be raised only a little if possible. But after surgery, his nose looked higher, so I asked, and they had raised the nasal bridge by 2 mm with autologous costal cartilage. When I asked whether it had been done because it was functionally necessary, they answered, "It's cosmetic," ㅠㅠ We had two consultations and then surgery, and even when I got a copy of the medical records, it says "satisfied with nasal bridge," so why did they raise it? My son is under so much stress that we want to have it removed. I looked into it and heard that the surgery was done in a complicated way, and that other hospitals do not readily operate on patients who had surgery with this doctor, so I am going to ask about removal at the next appointment. Is it possible to remove autologous costal cartilage? I am scared his nose might collapse. It is even harder because this is about my son ㅠㅠ He is 23 now, so he is sensitive about his appearance, and because of the operated nose he is shut up in his room. He keeps saying he never wanted his nose raised ㅠㅠ Is removal possible?
