I was comparing before-and-after photos, so I’ll post once..
I had simple removal of a straight silicone implant that had been in for over 10 years (4 mm near the glabella), with no nasal tip manipulation, and both the nose surgery and the removal were closed procedures.
(Reason for removal) The silicone had shifted to the right > the silicone was showing through at the right nasal tip + it felt like scar tissue was forming along the left silicone line + when my condition wasn’t good, I kept feeling a slightly uncertain/off sensation, and all of that gradually got worse.
For almost 4 years I avoided reality, thinking maybe it would be okay... Maybe it would be okay if I lost weight.... then finally decided. When I looked in dark places with yellow incandescent lighting (like a pub or restaurant bathroom..), the crookedness (right side) and the shadow from the part where the silicone had shifted (straight line) were severe. My mood swung so badly every day depending on how much the nose showed through when I looked in the mirror.
(Shape) After removal, because of swelling, week 3 looked the prettiest and I liked it the most, so I was happy, but in the end, the glabella is gradually sinking sharply like my original nose. For me, returning to my original nose was the top priority rather than having a pretty nose, so for now it’s ok.
Starting today, does my nose look slightly upturned too? I had a poking sensation from inside, so I wondered if the contracture phase was starting.
But when I actually compared the photos,
rather, it seems like after removal, the nasal tip had come down compared with before (photo 4). How does it look to everyone here?? I matched the philtrum angle carefully for an accurate comparison..
I think the nasal skin had been pulled excessively while trying to hold down the crooked silicone that was trying to protrude. So the tip was lifted, and the right nostril was also raised upward.
Oh, my columella was originally shaped inward. Sometimes I wonder, is it rolling in? is it starting to roll in? But since it wasn’t an open procedure and there was no nasal tip manipulation, I think it may just feel that way because the lifted nasal tip has come down.
(Pores) I have nothing to say about the pores... sigh Even before removal, my pores were a mess, all stretched out, and I had tons of whiteheads. Every 3 hours, shiny oil would pool in the pores, so I had to use oil-blotting paper.. Especially from below the silicone to above the columella, I couldn’t properly remove whiteheads because I was afraid the silicone would shift even more, so I often got breakouts.
After removal, the stretched skin shrank and turned into strawberry pores! Before, the pores were so stretched that I only had a whitehead problem, but now I feel like they’ll turn into blackheads.. The sebum is still pouring out.
But for now, I’m not touching it because I think it might irritate my nose! I’m just paying a bit more attention and rolling carefully when cleansing with foam cleanser.
(Showing-through scar) Looking up old posts, people said that areas where the silicone protruded and showed through had been compressed for too long, causing pigmentation and scarring, so even after removal, they don’t go away.
As the swelling slowly goes down, I’m starting to understand what that means. If I look hard under light, the skin on the bridge where the silicone was has a subtly different color, and the round red scar where the nasal tip had protruded is still there. At first I panicked, thinking, is necrosis starting??? But.. I think it’s scarring/pigmentation..... ㅠㅠ I should have removed it sooner ㅜㅠ
Still, the scar is at a level where no one would notice unless they stared at my face all day (I can see it because I know the condition of my nose.. that kind of level), and the pigmentation is also really subtle depending on the lighting, so it’s not a problem for everyday life with a bare face...
