Before<before surgery>After<day 1>After<day 3>After<day 7>After<1 month>After<1 month>I wanted everyone here to see in detail how the swelling after double eyelid surgery and epicanthoplasty goes down and settles, so I tried adding several photos.
At first, my eyelashes kept poking my pupils and it hurt, so I went to a plastic surgery clinic for a consultation to get entropion surgery. But after hearing the explanation of the surgical method, I thought that if they were going to incise muscle and skin anyway, I’d rather get double eyelid surgery and canthoplasty.. The director also said that even aside from entropion, it could be improved sufficiently with double eyelid surgery, so I decided to do it.
Surgery - incisional double eyelid surgery & epicanthoplasty
Date - 12.18 (It was surgery right before Christmas, so I knew I wouldn’t be able to go out and have fun anywhere.. I took that into account before getting it..)
Recovery & swelling - I’ll explain this in a bit more detail.
Day 3 - I think the major swelling was the worst at this point. It was still before stitch removal, and there was redness too, so I couldn’t readily go anywhere with these eyes.. That doesn’t mean I stayed only at home; I wore a hat and took walks, trying to reduce the swelling.
Day 7 - This was the day I got the stitches removed. I met the director again and asked a lot of things, like whether my swelling was okay and whether it was settling well. They told me that once the stitches were removed, the swelling would go down more from then on. And it really did settle naturally, which was fascinating.
1 month - You can see that a lot of the swelling had gone down by one month, right? Since I had incisional surgery, I was most worried about the recovery speed, but every friend who saw me said this was a good result for this stage and that the line was defined, so it looked better than before, which made me happy.
2 months - From this point on, I think I often checked how much of the line remained when my eyes were closed. Of course, I can’t see it with both eyes open.. so I ask a friend to look or take photos and check them, and it’s fascinating that it gradually becomes lighter as time passes.
Honestly, I’m not someone with big ambitions, and the eyes where my eyelashes used to poke me have improved, so I’m still quite satisfied. But the director said that no matter what surgery it is, you need to wait and see for 6 months, so I plan to keep monitoring it.
Oh right, I also got reimbursement because the entropion surgery was processed through indemnity insurance! I’m adding this in case anyone is curious..
