I’m a man, and because I have severe epicanthal folds and my eyelids cover about half of my pupils, I had a consultation for ptosis correction.
After seeing many before/after photos of male double eyelid surgery/ptosis correction performed by Director Hong Yong-taek on the Byeol Plastic Surgery website, I decided to have a consultation there.
I had consultations at 5 places, and at the other 4, they recommended ptosis correction, saying my eye-opening strength was weak. But Director Hong Yong-taek said I did not need ptosis correction, and that my eyes could look sufficiently more open with appropriate medial epicanthoplasty and incisional double eyelid surgery alone. I asked again whether I might have been forcing my eyes open, but he said it can be determined by looking at how much of the pupil is exposed when the upper eyelid is lifted. To me as well, when my eyelid was lifted, about 90% of the pupil was visible..
It made me think, “Then were all the other plastic surgery clinics recommending surgeries I didn’t need?” and it became an opportunity for me to look into and study ptosis correction, which I had thought of too simply, in more detail.
I came to trust Director Hong Yong-taek because he told me to comfortably ask anything I wanted and said I didn’t have to do surgeries that were unnecessary. The consultant who continued the consultation afterward was also very kind and answered my questions in detail, which was nice.
I’ll probably choose either Byeol Plastic Surgery or one other place.
