The post-op ones were taken with completely bare eyes to check the swelling, so I didn’t use a filter.
For consultations, I went to three eye+nose clinics including the one where I had surgery, and they offered 3 years of AS. The doctor personally handles aftercare. A place that reflects your needs. Both the consultation with the consultant and the consultation with the doctor were long, and I had surgery at a place where you can view the CCTV.
I had monolids, and I thought they had their own charm, but after people around me started getting double eyelid surgery one by one, I heard a lot that double eyelids would probably suit me too. After that, I decided I should get my eyes done since my eyes are big, and as I kept looking into eye surgery, I naturally started noticing my nose too. In the end, I got my eyes and nose done together. I’ll post a separate review for my nose after more of the swelling goes down.
Since I originally had completely bare monolids, I was debating between an in-out line and a semi-out line, but when they mapped the line, the in-out line suited me much better. Every time they made the line, it disappeared within 3 seconds, so I had no choice but to do an incision… lol For my nose, I just went for a natural-glamorous semi-ski-slope shape from my current nose. No matter how much I tried combining a straight-with-slight-curve nose with my face, it just didn’t work.
Before fasting, I asked on an app what I should eat for my last supper, but I got scolded and told not to eat anything too stimulating if possible lololol so I skipped malatang and ate sushi…
My friend came with me and waited at the clinic, and I was most nervous during the pre-op consultation. I had vague worries like, will it turn out well, what if I swell much more than I expected… Until right before anesthesia, I kept asking the doctor, “It’ll turn out well, right?”
At first, when they told me to count to 10, I wondered, what if the anesthesia doesn’t work? But nothing like that happened, and I finished the surgery safely.
On the first day after surgery, I asked my mom to take a photo of how swollen I was, but there was hardly any swelling around my eyes and just a bit of bruising. Since I had nose surgery, I couldn’t open my mouth wide, so I drank something simple like porridge. For me, rather than pain, the most uncomfortable part was that after the anesthesia wore off, when I tried to sleep again, I had to sleep sitting up, so I kept dozing lightly. Not being able to sleep comfortably… made me realize why sleep is one of the three basic human desires.
Neither my nose nor my eyes were very swollen, but my face was swollen. I guess it’s not just the surgical areas that swell, but the whole face… At first, I was worried about daily life because of swelling or scars, but I was surprised because nothing was that noticeable. But overall, yellow bruising came up all around my eyes… I also posted a bunch of questions on the app asking if this was normal, and they said I didn’t need to worry too much about yellow bruising, so I felt relieved and went in on day 3 to have the cotton removed from my nose. At one week, I saw the doctor and had both the eye stitches and nose stitches removed, and from then on I focused on getting the bruising down.
It looked slightly different in the mirror versus in photos, so I checked with photos, and although it definitely looks different depending on the lighting, they say photos are the closest to reality.
When having surgery, it’s good to have a guardian with you. If I had been alone, I think it would have been hard to even get a taxi after the anesthesia wore off. If everyone here can bring a guardian when having surgery, I definitely recommend going together.
