It has been 15 years since I had surgery using costal cartilage, and my nasal tip has drooped. It also seems like the tip is slightly showing through, and maybe it looks crooked too. Because my nasal tip is pointy, I decided on revision surgery. But as I got older, I worried so much that I kept putting it off and not doing it, then finally made up my mind this time. Back in 2019, when I had decided to get surgery, I went to Oh & Young Lee Gyu-ho, Jeongwon Seo Man-gun, The Co Shop Lee Min-ho, and Mint, but this time
I went to Yejin, Mint, and Kim Gwi-rak.
What I wanted was basically, "I'm afraid of side effects, and I only want to improve the pointy nasal tip from my current look, plus correct the crooked nose." Naturalness!!
<Yejin> I thought the front-desk staff was unfriendly. It felt like a small one-doctor clinic, but since the doctor has a very long career and is famous for natural, pretty noses, I went.
The director was very calm and explained things well, but when explaining, there were all sorts of things... I couldn't really understand what he meant. He explained all the side effects, and said donated costal cartilage is taken from older people, so it absorbs quickly and is not that good. He said most side effects come from silicone and are extremely rare, but also said they are not absolutely nonexistent. He said there probably wouldn't be any need to use dermis, and suggested leaving the glabella as is and only lifting the drooping part at the nasal tip. Silicone + reuse of my existing costal cartilage + ear cartilage. Regarding my allergies/rhinitis, he said it might improve somewhat after surgery.
The director took photos on the spot and showed me a virtual nose image, but it was too short and not the shape I wanted ㅠㅠ... I asked, "Do we discuss the shape again during surgery?" but he said he had already explained enough and that it would come out like the simulated shape... The price was the highest among all the places where I had consultations so far.
<Kim Gwi-rak> A newly opened private clinic called Limited. It had only been open for 6 months, but as expected from a famous director formerly from Brown, it was hard to even make an appointment, and the waiting time was long.. He is very famous for flashy results, but I felt he always makes the nose shape itself pretty, so I went. It is a private clinic, but they had a CT machine, and during the consultation he diagnosed while looking at the CT... His confidence was really overflowing~ His charisma was amazing.
As soon as he saw me, he said my nose was too long and not pretty, and that he would make it really pretty.. lol I said because of my job, I liked an ordinary nose like now, and he said okay, he could make it less flashy than his hospital's patients. He said my existing autologous costal cartilage would be worn out because it was old, and he wanted to harvest new rib cartilage. He said if we use the existing one, it would collapse again.. ㅜ ㅜ I said harvesting autologous costal cartilage again would be too much, and he recommended using donated costal cartilage... He strongly recommended donated costal cartilage, saying donated ribs are good these days... When I negatively talked about bad stories I'd heard about donated costal cartilage, he said a skilled doctor like himself can do it well. He said silicone side effects are usually a bigger concern than side effects from rib cartilage, so not to worry.. He said if I'm getting surgery, shouldn't it at least become prettier than now, and that he would make it pretty... lol I got unknowingly drawn in by the director's strong confidence and really wanted to do it with him.. lololol The director was so funny~
<Mint> I went for a consultation in 2019 because it was famous online, and at the time I agonized a lot over whether to do it at Seo Man-gun or Mint.. Even after 3 years, there still weren't really any bad comments online, so I went.. Mint is a private clinic opened 7 years ago by Director Wonjin..
They still had my old records. At that time, he had wanted to change my nose shape a bit, but now he just said to leave the glabella alone and only make the drooping nasal tip more defined.
I showed him a photo of Shin Min-a and said I wanted a nose like this, and he laughed loudly at me^^ ~ saying you have to be born with it lol
I said my nasal tip sometimes hurts as it droops, and he said that could continue even after surgery.. Regarding correcting my crooked nose, he said my facial asymmetry is originally severe, so only about 70% would be corrected... He said when people age, even ordinary people who never had surgery all get drooping nasal tips, so it could droop again...
