I had nose surgery in 2016, and it was done under sedation anesthesia at the time. During the surgery, I think I half-woke up because I was so cold and was shaking really badly, then maybe I fell asleep again..? Anyway, I suddenly woke up again during the surgery, and in my mouth there was a lot of extremely bitter water? medication? I don’t know what it was, but a lot of saliva and bitter-tasting liquid pooled in my mouth, and I remember feeling so uncomfortable, like was I supposed to swallow this or what? I said that I had woken up, and I think they told me it was almost over. Also, at first when they gave me the anesthetic and I was having a dream like I was on an amusement ride, I think they cut behind my ear to remove cartilage, and the feeling of being cut with a scalpel was so vivid... It hurt so much, and even though I was asleep, it felt like someone was cutting behind my ear with a scalpel...
Anyway, can something like this happen even under sedation anesthesia?! I’m planning a revision surgery, but my first surgery was such a scary and unpleasant experience, so I’m asking... Has anyone here who had sedation anesthesia these days experienced liquid coming up during surgery or anything like that?
And one of the hospitals I looked into said they absolutely don’t do sedation. Since I know that pain, I feel like local anesthesia would be too scary, so I’m asking,,, If anyone here has had nose surgery under local anesthesia, please leave lots of comments too,,,
