Because of my nose, my self-esteem hit rock bottom, and I always wore a mask as if it were my face, so almost everyone around me didn’t know what my lower face looked like lol.. It’s a bit extreme, but.. some of my ex-boyfriends dated me and even broke up with me without ever knowing my lower face..
So in the end.. I decided to get nose surgery..
But everyone says when you book consultations, you make appointments at several clinics before going.. I just booked a consultation at one clinic, trusted only that clinic, and took a bus for an hour and a half to get there..
Ah, but thankfully, I really think I chose the clinic well..!
As soon as they saw my nose, they pointed out the issues and recommended different things. But they only talked about the exact parts of my nose that I didn’t like, so I really liked that
I had long-nose correction, bulbous-nose correction, columella lowering, hump nose correction, and nasal osteotomy.. Such a serious nose..
But wow.. Can a human nose really change this much.. My parents are also really amazed by how different I look and still say it feels unfamiliar.. lol
On the first day after nose surgery, it was really, really, really, really hard.. My throat hurt so badly, and it was so painful having to breathe through that sore throat, but don’t most clinics remove the cotton on day 3..? Here, they removed it right away the day after nose surgery, so although my nose stayed blocked, the discomfort went away. I also got antibiotics
And on day 5, I had the splint removed.. Wow.. My nose had changed so freaking much.. My own face felt so unfamiliar to me..
After nose surgery, I confidently took off my mask! I went around here and there, and friends who hadn’t known my lower face said things like, “You’re so pretty, why did you wear a mask?” Especially from male friends, I heard that I was pretty so many times.. These kinds of comments feel so unfamiliar..
But because of trauma from how people used to look at my old appearance, my self-esteem about my looks still isn’t extremely high, but seeing myself gradually becoming more confident is honestly so amazing..!!
This will vary from person to person, but the swelling also went down really quickly, so around one week in, I took off my mask and went straight back to daily life Even at one week, there was no obvious sign that I had nose surgery.. People around me seemed to have no idea at all..
And one of the reasons I really think I chose my clinic well is that most people say that after nose surgery, their nose feels really tight when they smile for several months.. I’d even heard people say their nose still felt tight at 6 months, so I had prepared myself, thinking that after nose surgery I’d also feel awkward and have a hard time smiling comfortably for months..
But what the heck. Until about day 10 after surgery, I smiled a little here and there, and then I just thought, whatever, and smiled comfortably a few times, and before even 2 weeks had passed, smiling became so, so comfortable; Everyone says that if you laugh loudly not long after surgery, the nasal tip can droop because of the nose muscles, so I was a little worried, but I don’t feel like my nasal tip has dropped..
I think this part may be because the surgical method at the plastic surgery clinic I went to is special.. The staff were also so, so kind, and in so many ways it was seriously great..
I lived my whole life with low self-esteem, but seeing myself gradually gaining confidence makes me really, really happy..
