I had an appointment at 10 today and arrived at the hospital. I was shown to the recovery room, washed my face, and then met the director. Yesterday I was so worried that I slept poorly, and in the process, two questions became clear to me. After removing the implant, we had decided to support only the nasal tip with septal cartilage, but what if that protrudes? And, might the area where the hump was rasped be too sunken? Unlike artificial implants, septal cartilage generally does not show through (ear cartilage can actually show through more), and even if it does show, the corrective procedure is relatively simple, the director said. They said that even when rasping a hump, they do not rasp it excessively. Most hospitals only rasp up to the hump area. So the nasal bridge may be similar to my original nose, or because of the capsule, it may even be slightly higher. After hearing the answers to my questions, I felt reassured, so the surgery proceeded after sleep anesthesia. After sleeping for quite a while, I said informally, “I’m so cold. Please give me a blanket,” and the manager told me the surgery was over. There was a lot of bleeding, so I stayed in the recovery room, then went to the treatment room to change the cotton packing, and in the director’s office I was shown photos of the surgical progress and received an explanation. (Ugh... it’s my own nose, but it’s so gross.) I live in the Seoul metropolitan area, so I’m taking a taxi home. The swelling is just starting now, so I’m sure I’ll feel stressed too, but for now my mind feels so at ease.
I was so depressed right up until just before the surgery, but still, I’m glad I did it. Now I no longer have to agonize over whether to do it or not, so I’ll trust my body’s ability to recover, trust the director who performed the surgery, and wait.
I hope many people here who are going through the same worries also have their surgeries safely and become happy.
