Nose Re-Surgery@rhino-redo

I had my nose implant removed today (silicone removal, nasal tip revision)

First surgery: nearly 4 years ago, 4-5 mm silicone, ear cartilage in the nasal tip Reason for removal: suspected inflammation symptoms in the glabella kept recurring for 1 month (swelling, pain, redness). It improved only during antibiotic treatment, then kept recurring when I stopped the medication. Condition of nose at removal: externally looked fine What was removed/done: silicone removal, no capsule removal, additional ear cartilage harvest while refining the nasal tip to match the height of the nasal bridge

Questions before surgery

1. Capsule removal: I said I was worried about contracture due to the remaining capsule, but the doctor said forcibly removing the capsule could weaken the skin and make the nasal bridge look uneven, so we decided to leave it. It seems they don’t remove it if the inflammation symptoms aren’t severe when they open the nose.

2. Hollow nasal bridge: They said it may look slightly concave, but it fills in a little over time. I didn’t ask whether what fills in is bone or tissue, but I’d be grateful if it just returns to about my original nasal bridge.

3. Other: According to the director, cases of implant removal have increased since people got COVID vaccines; apparently this happens with the nose and breasts. They said that could be the case for me too. I was fine for 4 years and then suddenly got swelling and a whole commotion, leading to removal;;

Maybe because the capsule remains and part of the ear cartilage wasn’t touched, there’s almost no swelling or pain. I got a lot of help from this community, so I’ll post reviews from time to time!

Oh, I had the removal revision at the hospital where I had my first surgery, and they charged an anesthesia fee + cartilage harvesting fee. I’m not really comfortable sharing the information~!
