I had revision rhinoplasty, and since I also had rhinitis, I had functional nose surgery at the same time! After my first nose surgery, I was scared of complications, so I had only the silicone removed and lived like that. But my nose kept bothering me, so I decided to have revision surgery. I did a lot of searching through a community, had consultations at about 3 places, and made my decision.
The two things I considered important were safety-first principles and reusing my original septal cartilage instead of autologous costal cartilage. Other hospitals said reusing septal cartilage would be difficult and that I would need to use autologous costal cartilage or donated rib cartilage, but only the hospital where I had surgery said septal cartilage reuse was possible. They also said they would show me the shape during surgery, so I wasn't worried about ghost surgery!! That's why I had it done at this hospital. They have been so good with postoperative care, and the doctor explained everything very kindly, so I felt I made the right choice. Especially, I really, really, really, really like the shape. Right now the nasal tip looks quite upturned, but they said that considering it will droop later, it is better to make it a bit lifted, so we did that. Thinking that it will come down a little later, I think it will be okay. And what was interesting is that, maybe because of the swelling injections, the swelling went down really quickly, so I liked that a lot. It was a very satisfying surgery.
