I’m a man and it’s been almost 2 weeks since I had double eyelid surgery (non-incisional) + upper epicanthoplasty (no ptosis correction), and I’m writing because I have some questions.
First of all, the line is more natural than I expected, so I’m satisfied, but on the other hand it’s already so natural now that I feel like after about a month there may be no difference compared with before surgery, so that feels really disappointing and upsetting.
However... in my case, I do wear glasses, but apart from that, my left eyelid has been very uncomfortable from right after surgery until now.
The bruising + swelling in my left eye itself was much worse than the right, and there’s still a little bit left...
Compared with the right side, the double eyelid also feels slightly like a sausage line, not exactly going in as an inner double eyelid but like it’s caught on something?.... (I mean it only feels that way; I do like the line and shape)
And above all, the most uncomfortable thing is that my vision seems to have decreased and my astigmatism seems to have worsened, so overall objects don’t look straight. Because of that, my eyes get tired quickly. On the right side, when I open my eye wide and also when I open it normally, the eyelid/eyelash mucosa? goes in properly along the double eyelid line, so it’s not uncomfortable at all and feels comfortable.
On the other hand, on the left side, the eyelash mucosa on the left eyelid side feels slightly flipped over + lifted up sharply, like I had ptosis correction! When I close and open my eye, the skin above the double eyelid line seems to be affected, and I wonder if the double eyelid? line sutures that are holding the eyelid in place were fixed a bit too high or too tightly, because I keep feeling like my eyelid is flipped over, so my eye is very uncomfortable every time.
To begin with, after the double eyelid surgery, both eyes were uncomfortable only for exactly two days, and after that the right eyelid came down and everything went inside, so opening and closing that eye became very comfortable. But the left has been like this from the beginning until now, and regardless of swelling, I feel like the thread is stronger than expected compared with the line or tied too high...........
I’m writing this somewhat long post because I’m wondering if I can consult with the doctor.
When I had the stitches removed, I only talked briefly with the nurse, and before that when I went in several times for treatment, I told the nurses as well.
In the end, the manager seemed a bit frustrated. Of course, they told me that I was much more swollen than others and that it had only been about 2 weeks since surgery, so I should wait a bit longer. I understand that too, and I wasn’t arguing....
More than anything, I clearly feel that something is wrong (I don’t think it will simply sink in or become comfortable just because the swelling goes down).
After surgery, if you try to consult with the doctor, is it normal for the clinic staff to feel very uncomfortable about it internally and try not to arrange it if possible???
For now, I’m going to an ophthalmologist on Monday to get a diagnosis, and if it really doesn’t work out, I think I’ll tell the manager and ask them to let me consult with the doctor.
The problem is, I feel like the doctor will also say it’s because of swelling and that we should just wait and see, sigh.........
What should I do?
Apart from the vision decline issue, every time I open and close my eye, maybe because of the left mucosa, it’s very uncomfortable, I’m always conscious of it, and my focus feels even more off. This is why I’m trying to get a consultation.
