My nose isn’t exactly low-bridged, but from the front it looks round and bulbous, and the bones on both sides are on the wide side. I don’t have a complex about my nasal bridge, but I really dislike the front view that looks like a bulbous nose, so I searched for hospitals that do natural-looking surgery without implants. I live outside Seoul, so this summer I went up to Seoul and barely managed to visit 3 places in one day.. This winter I plan to visit 2-3 more places and then choose a hospital.
I went to all three, but none of them completely pulled me in.. At that time, because of scarring, I mainly searched for places good at closed rhinoplasty, so my search was narrow. Now I’m going to search more broadly, including open rhinoplasty. When I go in winter, I’m thinking of additionally visiting ㅇㅂㄹ, ㅋㅇㅍㄹㅅ, and ㅇㅍ before deciding.
These reviews are just notes I wrote down as they came to mind after the consultations,, so I hope they help!
ㄷㄹ (ㅏ ㅡㅁ) -Consultation fee 10,000 won (CT taken) -This place doesn’t specialize in closed rhinoplasty, but the reviews were good, so I was curious and added it to my list -They don’t blindly push surgery; they recommend what suits my face -I said I wanted to improve the roundness of my nasal alae -My brow bones, cheekbones, and nasal bones are developed. My nasal septum is short, and the cartilage in my nose is short (2 mm) -They said if they shape the nasal tip, because my nasal bones are already developed, it could make the nose look pinched and make the nasal bones stand out more, so they don’t recommend it. They said touching the nasal tip would likely disrupt the balance of my face more, so they don’t recommend it -Still, if I want improvement, they can project the front so the nostrils don’t show, but it would be major work, and since I don’t have abundant ear cartilage or other materials, they don’t recommend this -They only recommended nostril/alar base reduction (because my nostrils are uneven, the external and internal approaches would be different on each side) -Cost 1.5 million won
ㅁㅋ (ㅏㅡ) -Consultation fee 10,000 won (CT taken) -The director was full of confidence about the surgery, and the consultant said she had worked at several hospitals, but this director is truly good and my nose improvement would turn out the way I want. -They said they understood what parts of my nose I wanted improved, that the front is slightly upturned, and that my nasal bones are wide and I have a bulbous nose -They said both sides of the nasal bones need osteotomy, and because I lack cartilage, costal cartilage needs to be used -Closed rhinoplasty, costal cartilage 5 million won, osteotomy 500,000 won, bulbous nose improvement 500,000 won, for a total of 6 million won. But if I booked the same day and agreed to partial disclosure, they would discount it to 4.7 million won. The pressure to book was pretty strong.. (I think we spent 1 hour just talking about booking..)
ㅇㅆ (ㅗㅓㅁ) -No consultation fee (no CT taken) -The director was kind -I told them what I had heard at other consultations, and the consultant said my nose is absolutely not one that needs autologous costal cartilage or costal cartilage. Surgery can be done sufficiently with ear cartilage -Both the consultant and director said my nose is not bad overall. They said it seems only the front part needs improvement -As I want, they will only use ear cartilage in the front and autologous dermis from behind the ear to improve the front part and just smooth out the nasal dorsum -Closed rhinoplasty, nostril/alar improvement, use of ear cartilage, filling empty areas of the nose with dermis, total 3.84 million won; 3.2 million won if booking the same day
I visited a total of 3 places, and all three said soooo different things that I became even more confused..! So I’m going to visit more places in winter and make sure before deciding The consultations themselves were all okay, but there wasn’t any place that really grabbed me
