Because I’m aiming for a natural look and minimal scarring, I’ve only been looking into non-incisional procedures. Since my eyes are large, I don’t need epicanthoplasty or lateral canthoplasty, and my goal is to even out my asymmetric double eyelids.
With that goal in mind, I visited a total of 3 plastic surgery clinics in the Gangnam area, either famous ones or ones recommended by acquaintances. However, all of these consultations took place 1.5 years ago, so please keep the timing in mind.
1. ㄹㅎ - First impression: As popular as it is, it’s chaotic. When there are a lot of people, on one hand I think the doctors must have a lot of experience, but on the other hand I worried they might not be able to pay much attention to me. - Consultation: They consulted with me for a sufficiently long time, so some of my earlier worries were relieved. They recommended an incisional method, but said that if I wanted, buried sutures would also be okay. (Looking at the director’s reviews, it seems incisional surgery is generally the method they prefer.) The consultation with the director was clean and straightforward, but the coordinator was... a bit pressuring.
2. ㅍㄹㅁㅇ - First impression: Similarly, as expected of a popular plastic surgery clinic, it’s chaotic. - Review: I went to see a director known for glamorous eyes. I was curious to have a consultation even at a place that pursues an image different from what I’m aiming for. The director was very understanding and listened well. After hearing my goal, they said it seemed like I would only need simple double eyelids, but recommended the incisional method for the procedure. They said they don’t recommend buried sutures because they come undone easily. When they set the line, it seemed a bit high, so I asked why, and they said I have enough eye-opening strength that a significant portion would be covered. Overall, the consultation experience was good, but I felt that the direction the director and I were pursuing was different.
3. ㅇㄹ - First impression: There were too few people, and it felt closer to a dermatology clinic than a plastic surgery clinic. Maybe because it’s a place with good word of mouth, while waiting I think I saw two people who looked like celebrities or aspiring celebrities? - Consultation: The director is unique. There were various expensive artworks hanging in the room, and maybe because the director also has a strong persona... it felt like meeting an artist rather than a doctor. The consultation was sufficiently long, and they said my eyes would be fine with buried sutures. But during the consultation, they said the real issue actually wasn’t my eyes but my nose, so I was taken aback. In the end, during the consultation with the coordinator, we ended up discussing both eyes and nose together, and I wondered if this was right.
