I’m one of those people who started in 9th grade without really knowing anything and regrets it so much... From the start, I didn’t really feel the need for orthodontic treatment, but I began because my parents pressured me into it. Throughout the entire treatment, all I could think about was wanting to get the braces off quickly. I hated anything scary too, so I went with non-extraction treatment, and because of that my mouth actually became protrusive (it was originally just normal). The doctor didn’t even align my dental midline, and finished treatment with one front tooth still sticking out more, so when I smile the asymmetry of my teeth is really obvious. Back then I was just happy that it was over, but now that several years have passed and I’ve become interested in my appearance, I regret it so much. I keep thinking, if only I had been stricter about questioning and checking things back then...
